The Hits / The B-Sides VS The Very Best of Prince

Hey gang..
which do we luv more? The Hits/The B-Sides or The Very Best of Prince?

I know I personally dig The Hits/ The B-Sides but some might say The Very Best of Prince because it is one disc and easier to travel with. (If you don't dig the iPOD/MP3 Revolution.)

Also, didn't P go against The Very Best of Prince coming out?

I didn't bother buying the very best of ...didn't seem to have a need for it. I LOVE the hits/b-sides! it was a first taste for alot of his early work for me..brings me back...ya know! yeah... I don't think Prince has any love for the very best of.
"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok

I am not a big fan of the edited versions of songs on "The Hits/B-sides" (Adore? When Doves Cry?) However, that collection easily reigns supreme over "The Very Best of.." That collection sucks. It stops in 1991 and ends with "Money Don't Matter 2night."
"New Power slide...."

seems 2 me when the hits/b-sides came out, a few funny things occured....
first, it was right around when prince changed 2 the symbol...so, the hits/b-sides shouild have been the final "nail in the coffin" 4 WarnaBrothas! But when "the greatest" came out a few years back, it was WB double dipping in2 Prince's music 4 a buck!! (notice the last song on THAT set?? can u spell irony???)

the other thing i thought "funny" was all the casual fans of prince i knew hated the 3 cd set of hits!! they couldnt get in 2 it....BUT when the single disc came out, the hardcore fams hated THAT cuz of the lack of material...thought that was kinda amusing....or.... u no, not.....whatever...
he's no good to me dead!

"very best of" was crap. i liked the free stickers of the cover art that i found at a wrecka stow, though. i cut all the little prince pictures out and used them to organize my "special" prince cds.

Any Prince compilation that doesnt have Let's Work, Uptown, or Head is lacking. The Very Best of Prince totally skips the Dirty Mind album - arguably the breakout album of his career. And edited single versions are unacceptable at any time.

The Hits/B-sides easily. More to love, but Mountains should have been included along wth many others.

The Hits/B-sides is way better than the Best of Prince. The Hits/bsides has more songs and plus has the damn B-sides 2 some of the hits and songs that R not in the set. What more can U ask 4, from a hits set. I have the Hits/bsides and it is off the hook man, Im proud I own it. The Best of Prince is no where near it.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

the only prince CDs i will never buy are "very best of" and, of course, "1999: the new master". the latter is not allowed to be brought into my home.

Its hard to judge either for the fact that Prince has too many great songs and no matter what people will not be pleased with the selection of songs. Hits and B sides is better of course because it has more songs...and the B sides...regardless of edits... it is a great sample of some of his work...

I prefer his seperate albums...

Hits albums are for the casual listener.

In this day and age, surely almost everyone has a CD writer, if not an mp3 player.

So make your own best of's - all the commercial releases can contain are the hits and the stuff that will draw in the masses.

The Hits/B-sides is better because of the inclusion of the B sides. I think most people avoid The Very Best CD cause they have most of the songs in their collection already, and it is pretty much all the songs you hear on the radio. I am not going to get it, but I don't care if someone else buys it.

Prince should never have had a hits or best of album until after he died.

I bought the hits/b sides second hand for a tenner (thats about $17), and I bought it only for the b sides.

But "pink cashmere" is still great, and I still spin "pope" maybe once a year. The b sides are goood too mind.

Wouldnt touch the very best of. Does it only go upto "d and p" album because of that huge supposed $100 million doller contract prince signed where he owned half of his publishing with warners or something like that?

Come on, that's silly.

Best Of collections by living artists are released all time, it isn't about representing that artists catalogue of music, it's about selling their most commercial work to the general public. Money for old rope.

I like Hits Bsides better also even though I hate the edits on there mad

I wouldn't get rid of it though for my copies of Power Fantastic, Pope, Peach

and P and Rosie doing Nothing Compares 2 U live if nothing else. And yes there

are also others I like on it but those would be the main reason I'll keep it.
"Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.
