well, when jay leno asked p which songs he'd miss playing after the musicology tour was over, the first thing he said was "purple rain".

not that i believe he's 'retired' any of his songs, but the response was nice to hear.

In the One Night Alone package there is a list of songs from various artists which he recommends us to listen to and the only Prince song there is Strange Relationship.

Snap

I'd say "Purple Rain" because he finds it the most fun to perform live -- the crowd really responds well to it, and Prince can solo and have fun with it as long as he wants.

I have always thought this song was AMAZING! He should be nothing less than proud that he came up with that one.

He Said in an Interview that his favorite song of his was "Joy in Repetition." He said this in 1996 so who knows if it's changed.

Can't imagine it would be Kiss, he didn't even want to record that himself, only put on the Parade album as an afterthought really.
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

I recall him saying on Jay Leno in 2004, that since he is retiring his hits he would probably miss purple rain the most

Can´t imagine that it´s not kiss.
He loves money and success. And the single - not the album - was a big success (third No 1 US single). And your afterthought info (from Alan Leeds) is relative, the single was released a month-and-a-half before the album.

He actually did want to record it, but only after he gave it to (Mazarati, The Family -- can't remember it) and they weren't feeling it and it just wasn't working.. he could have just abandoned it, but he saw the possibilities..
