OK purple enthusiasts. Help my colleague and me settle an argument. We can't agree the musical genre in which the song 'Question of U' belongs. I won't tell you the options, just tell us what you think. And 'It doesn't fit into one particular genre' isn't a helpful answer. Pick the one which you think is closest.

I suppose I'd consider it a rock ballad since I can only pick one genre. However, like with a lot of Prince songs, it's hard to narrow it don't to just one.

It is a straight up BLUES song!

This song is funkin magic man. Only icehole think not. My pinonion is that it from funk genrie. Are you going to tell all what the option are soon Levi? Or are you keepy to self like mushroom?

Baroque? Something classical anyway. You know what it reminds me of? Ever see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, before they present the king with his birthday toys, all these old people are dancing in purple suits and gowns to a song that involves the people turning around and clapping their palms against their partners palms -- they're all very serious and somber looking... yeah, "Question of U" reminds me of that scene.

Why, oh why are we still trying to classify Prince's music?

We ain't classifying his music, we're talking about a song... it was written in 6/8 time, and Prince ain't the first to have written this type of music. Basically, it's a waltz. Strauss was famous for writing waltzes, and Strauss is known as a classical musician, for that's the type of music he wrote, and that's the style of music that "Question of U" is -- right down to the rhythm, instrumentation and the hand claps. peace.

It's a blues song.

It could be defined as "slow funk" or "blues". Prince crosses so many genres so often that it's hard to define...that's what I like about him.

Looks like the 'blues' have it.

This song has no Blues scheme. Like xpertluva said, it´s a rock balad.

Song reminds me of Sly Stone's 'Just like a Baby'. The fade out of JLAB really reveals how Prince found some of his experimental touches.
