...most of Prince's songs have been recorded in one take. Ever seen him live? He plays live all the time. Now, if the song had been spontaneously created while recording it in one take... that would be something!

Very true.
Maybe lots have been recorded in one take, but seeing as were talking about how amazing Power Fantastic is, I think thats the best achievement.

I was just talking about the all the live performances that are in circulation -- we should be freaking out about those as much as we do about "Power Fantastic" being recorded in one take. Weren't all the Small Club songs performed in one take as well, and those are as amazing, if not more amazing, than "Power Fantastic." wink

i wouldnt know....but what i do know is that prince's vocals...lisa's piano playing and eric and atlanta's horn playing are the most emotionally raw things ive ever heard on wax....the fact that they all appear together and played at the same time blows *me* away...

and i can only speak for myself....no other bit of music has touched me the way this song has...

yeah youre right, they really are raw.its almost haunting.
powerful stuff.
We cat compare it to other songs just because theyre live or they were unreleased. its right up there all by itself. wonder what made him shelve it in the first place? Bad memories?

sos - you say things so beautifully sometimes. touched

This is one song that I very rarely play. Simply because I never want to ruin its' impact. Stunning.

This is a tough choice. As a musician I would have to say that Power Fantastic is better for me on a musical scale. Although, Pink Cashmere is better lyrically. So I'd have to say that it's a tie.
I'm back!!!!!!!
