It is a good song. If I remember correctly it was a original candidate for the 1999 album. And although I like it, I can't think of a single tune that it would replace on that album. I would like to have seen it released as a B-side during that time. At the very least it should have been included on the Crystal Ball set. That album could have been so much better than it was.

It's a great track, one of very few circulating out-takes that shines.

What is a moonbeam level anyway?

I can understand what a moonbeam is. But what's a level and how could someone send one to someone else?

Now imagine that album WITH Moonbeam Levels on it....

Uptown's the Vault says that the lyrics of the chorus are: "peace and glory of moonbeam levels to be"


while I always thought (and still do) it was "please send all your moonbeam levels to me"....



Mind you, they're both cryptic as fuck....

The first would could be peace, but the next part definately sounds like "send all your", I can't hear "glory" at all.

Yep. Probably cuz the two songs are so similar, musically, P wouldn't want them on the same album. Would have loved to seen this as a b-side during 82-83. "Extra Loveable" should have DEFINATELY been a b-side as well. But, "Moombeam" isn't a stronger cut than "Free", lyrically or musically, so, P definately made the right decision. But yeah, it's one of my favorites of his non-released material.
