Prince songs that sound like Sly songs Now before people start responding with "prince is totally original, he's the greatest artist ever and never ever ripped anybody off" my intention is not to accuse prince of "stealing" from sly but rather to make a good document of the sly influence in prince's music, so here are some songs I think are similar to sly songs, let me know if there are some that you think I've missed.
Forever in my life-Everyday People The Ballad of Dorothy Parker-Sounds like something from Riot or Fresh, probably sounds more like "Family Affair" than any other specific track If I was your girlfriend-bassline appropriated from Thank You falletin Me be mice elf agin, melody and overall feel is quite different though Family Name-Africa Talks To You "The Asphalt Jungle" Slow Love-Hot Fun In The Summertime Alphabet Street-You Can Make it if you try

When I first heard "The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker", my first reaction was, SLY!!!
That guitar riff that's ending on "Alphabet St." is the same riff from "You Can Make It If You Try"..... Prince & The Revolution were almost the Sly & The Family Stone of the 80's.... [Edited 6/28/05 15:12pm]
