They used to do this as the opening to the Act I/II tours in '93. Mayte would come out dressed up as Prince (in his trade mark robe and chain mask) and mime along to "My Name Is Prince". At the end of the song she stripped down revealing herself to be none other than Mayte!

They also did this at the Versace show in '95 ("Pussy Control")

Anyway, I want to know who actually fell for it? What was your initial reaction? C'mon... 'fess up!!

I finally realized that I was sure I saw an outline of a "boobie" (I was twelve at the time), then I saw CAT interviewed by Donnie Simpson on Video Soul and they discussed it and comletely layed that rumour to rest.

Totally fooled yes, thought it was Prince with chain mask.

But at the concert IN 93 i was at in Edinburgh UK, Mayte fell of the swing as she was being lowered down from above, it was real funny.

Nah - what gave it away for me were 2 things - I saw Prince walkout in an entirely different outfit to what 'Prince mayte' was wearing....and he was also stood about 6 feet away from me waiting to go on

What's worse, I thought that picture of Cat playing Prince's guitar from Sign o' the Times was actually Prince.

My friends and I debated a good long time over whether or not that photo was actually Prince. We were not yet aware - obviously - of the existence of Cat and were reeeeal confused because while that pic *did* look like Prince, it also (in obvious ways...) *did not* look like it could be Prince. So, sometimes we were pretty sure it was Prince, then we'd swing the other way and be like "Nope, that just CAN'T be Prince."
