90's era not so bad

Many critics and pundits trash Prince's music and sales during the 90's ,but in comparision to other mainstream artists he still was selling rather well. If you consider all 90's album releases he still sold about 10 million US,had 5 top ten singles, owned nightclubs in Minny,LA,Miami, and Tokyo, had the NPG store in Camden, and Minny,4 platinum albums,3 gold certified albums, not to shabby for a so called down era.

Very true. I always wondered why he didn't open one in NYC during that time. I think it would have been huge. I would have tried to sneek in there.

As a whole, I like it a whole lot more than what he's put out this decade so far.

His 90's stuff owned. So underrated. And he only sold 10 million 90's CD's in the US. He also sold a lot elsewhere

It is a very underrated period, but it is his fault for changing his name to "Whoosh-THUNK!"

The general population missed out on some good shit, especially from '94 to '96.

'93-'96 was pretty fucking good, I must say.

After that it got spotty and then more and more medicore.

Im a 78-88 person myself but the 93-95 era was very cool indeed. My second favourite era. Come, Exodus, TGE and all the unreleased stuff from this era is just great.

Most people do not know that WB placed Prince in the Black music division back in 1991.By marketing his music to a now smaller population (urban radio) sales started to decrease. Prince also inflamed his WB by playing the primma donna.

Barry White stated back in the early 1990's that if the record company does not want you to have a #1 record you will not have one.

Prince really sounded bored and uninspired after 1993. Gold was a decent album but really there was nothing in the 90s apart from D&P that could live with his 80s work.

I think his 90's output was definetly underrated. Brotha was in a groove from 92-96. One of favorite albums came from this era, The Gold Experience.

Those clubs were not looked after properly. The minn club was maintained it seemed but the LA club was run down and the fla was not up to snuff.

Prince seemed 2b as creative and diverse in the 90's as any other period in his career! Probably more!
