NEW

If ya'd like to have a new kind of Prince sound to listen to, buy the new Jamie Lidell (partner of the British 'Super_Collider" formation) cd; "Multiply"

; as well as the new cd by "Roisín Murphy" (female singer of Moloko) entitled "Ruby Blue".

The latter is made in collaboration with Matthew Herbert. An absolute genius when it comes to weird soundscapes. (keep an eye on him too!)

They are both in my player for weeks now! Superb contemporary funky & melodic wizardry, which keeps you gessin' for hours what instrument is being used, and what heavenly embellishment is being created...
Really great songs & craftmanship together!

I also purchased the new Benjamin Diamond cd.. forgot the title.. it also has some Princy moments on there, but it's a bit different, and sometimes way too smooth.. but still nice. (Prince sometimes is also way too smooth for me. wink )

so there ya go. that'll keep you waiting for new material.

ANd know this: when Prince is silent, the walls in Paisley Park are trembling!! which means, he's hurting his guitar and other instruments badly and writing new joints for all!

peace!

(am i the only one, who loves his 'new' silence? which means he's creating! i hope! smile

I hear ya, but if you want real Prince sound (mainly because I suspect he did some producing) get Nikka'a Can'tNeverDidNuthin' Disc. That's Nikka Costa-I don't think I have to mention that. But some members of NPG make appearances on the CD not Prince himself (maybe). And if her song "Happy In The Morning" is not some unreleased Prince song...

but around here, prince be damned. neutral

I'm sorry, but you seem increasingly grumpy and annoyed with this place as time goes on. It's almost as if you're staying here past the point of enjoying it anymore. I could so easily be wrong, but it seems that way from reading your posts.

Anyway, I'm definitely feeling the effects of no Prince news right now. He's earned a rest, but it's definitely tough for a fan who's been spoiled by the little guy.

I can't wait til the hype and anticipation over the next album starts.

I remember reading that first thread when Musicology was first previewed on Tavis Smiley.

Great times.

The man is back in the game and he is probably using some of the traditional record/CD selling strategies again, particularily the "Don't saturate the market" philosophy. This type of discipline, while frustrating for hard core fans, has a proven track record for producing masterpieces from the talented and prolific.

Seems reasonable, but... isn't that strategy a key point of contention with WBs? He wanted to put out more material, but they didn't want to saturate the market. Interesting if he's trying to do that himself. eek
Come here, babe.. yeah...
