Remember in 3 chains o gold when all the band members were like Mayte. I mean I know it was staged for the movie but why did Prince have them portray all this distrust around Mayte around that era...I also saw a TV speical were they had little interviews and the band members were like "Mayte..I don't get it" Why did Prince have them do this?

i think it was all just 2 try and create hype and mystery etc 4 the album.

I always thought that was weird too. I didn't watch this till way after that era, so I thought that this version was released after their breakup. It just doesn't seem to make sense intercut with all that footage from '7'.

One question I had on this video pertains to the song "3 Chains of Gold". ALthough it was lambasted by some as crappy (i liked the song alot), it was nowhere to be seen or heard on the video. Was the epilogue at the end a substitute?

Prince likes to create the fueding band drama in his movies and concerts. He likes that kind of drama even if it is fiction. The real shit was happening between those guys and Rosie. She said they were horrible to her.

Prince likes the drama and enjoys the image of being a badass "I'll do what I want no matter what YOU all think" type of guy. I think he felt there was some kind of cache or something to being with a woman who was "supposedly" causing tensions within the band itself, and riling people up, as if the romance itself was of such great meaning and importance to other people beyond just Prince and Mayte themselves. Kind of like the whole John and Yoko thing....
