One of the best pop slow songs he has ever made. One that makes me feel huggable. I love good pop.

Back in the day when I used to compile 75 minute cd's with Prince's music by genre. I used to have comilations called Songs 4 Sunday, A Sure Hit and I of course also had a Ballad Blizzard.

I never included Diamonds & Pearls on it. To me the choice not to include it were various, but the one that mattered most to me is that is was too bland compared to many other great ballads.

Of course, this was a personalised compilation. If I had to compile a Ballad Blizzard for the general public Diamonds & Pearls and other 'easy' ballads like Nothing Compares 2 U would be included immediately.

As is; here is my choice of ballads, limited by the 80 minutes limit of a cd. The Ballad Blizzard has always been a growing compilation, as you can see by recent additions like One Nite Alone and The One. The songs chosen here were included because they are amazing stand outs. No D&P, as it seems awfully sappy compared to a lot of the emotional power channelled by the songs I did include.

The only stand out here is Anna Stesia, which is not really a ballad, but belongs on Songs 4 Sunday, my collection of faith-inspired Prince songs. But I was always puzzling with the songs and as I am busy making some compilations for Muse, I probably will tackle THIS collection again too...

Lots of his songs are recorded to a certain templates, like Insatiable to me is just a feeble reworking of the stuff he did better on Do Me Baby.

During concerts any performance of Diamonds And Pearls and/or Nothing Compares 2 U is my beer- or toiletstop. I can't stand either song. Feeble easy sing alongs. Sinead STOLE that song from him and he has not been able to improve on it. I guess it must sting.
