What about the Roadhouse album? In an interview with Kurt Loder a few years ago, he was asked about a Roadhouse project which included music he created with The Revolution. At the time he said that he'd finished a few tracks but had stopped working on it to do some other things.
Given his short attention span, I'm wondering if he'll ever go back to that stuff. Does anybody know anything about this? Thanks. Come here, babe.. yeah...

I doubt that he'll go back 2 it but I've wondered about Roadhouse Garden myself, especially the song Splash. I don't know if Splash was a part of Roadhouse but I wonder why nothing was written about the song in DMSR or any of Per's articles.

'Splash' only really emerged as a known song when released in 2000 - hence no mention through Uptown and related publications before that date. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Known info on Roadhouse Garden:
A compilation of old Revolution-era material Prince was working on in 1998. It is cited as the reason why there was a distinct lack of Revolution-era material on Crystal Ball. Tracks mentioned for inclusion: Roadhouse Garden Splash Witness 4 The Prosecution All My Dreams No full or final configuration is known. Prince intended to hook up with Wendy & Lisa to work on a few of the tracks (update them/"finish them off") - I don't think he ever asked them directly, just posting on L4OA, and when no reply came (which it wouldn't since he never asked them), he made a snide comment about them, calling them "Lendy & Wisa" on the site. ALTHOUGH, this might have related to a comment about Wendy coming up with Purple Rain or something. DAMN! I wish there was a comprehensive time-line and record made of Prince's online activities, it did make for an interesting time whilst he was doing crap like GCS2000 and Rave. I DO also recall talk of a reunion performance for VH-1 or something from 97-ish, Prince wanted to do some big fanfare coming through the audience in gaudy outfits, and W&L just wanted something a little more low-key, like a couple of acoustic guitars and a piano. - Don't take that as fact, I'm talking off the top of my head, I'm sure someone with a better memory than me will fill in the details. I was just a bit suprised that there was no mention from any of his engineers especially Susan Rogers who spoke of many songs namely the infamous Wally. I mean we have all 3 versions of The Dream Factory but no mention of the Roadhouse project. The only thing I know 4 sure is that the song Our Destiny is at least from '84 'cause I have a video of them rehearsing 4 the June 1st Ave concert and that was 1 of the songs the played.

Well, there would have been no mention of the Roadhouse Garden project in DMSR because it only goes upto 1988, and it wasn't a project for another 10 years. It was a compilation of existing material, like Crystal Ball, not a long-lost project from 1984. Our Destiny & Roadhouse Garden were recorded live at the June 7th 1984 show, and Wendy & Lisa worked on Our Destiny in the studio, overseeing the recording of strings and horns, and Prince used the strings as an interlude between Pop Life and The Ladder (I know anyone with DMSR may recall reading that, but just for those who don't have it). Think about it - if he put out Roadhouse Garden full of old Revolution recordings, the fans and critics would probably be raving about it.
Then the next time he put out a new album it would be compared to Roadhouse - and if it wasn't top notch, people would be going, 'Prince can't write them like he used, he's had his day, he should stick to releasing vault track from back when he was good'. I'm not sure Prince wants to have to compete with his past - that's the biggest competition of all (as he says in the song Don't Play Me from The Truth).
