is it just me or is the title of that song offensive i would like to know what that song is about and why in the world prince would write a song like that??

Cool song! I do not find it offensive. He is talking about this women who he can't resist no matter how much she dogs him. That was just Prince being Prince at the time.

Glad you brought this up. This is actually my favorite Prince song and I'm a rather dyed-in-the-wool feminist. To me, the song is all about how she has power over him, complete utter power, and yet he loves her for it. It's almost as if her brazenness is what turns him on the most, he finds it captivating and sexy. In fact, that's why I love Prince so much, is because he honestly adores women. To me, "bitch" can be used subversively as a description of sexiness AND power (two things that don't go together very often with women, especially in pop songs)

Of course, the song is not serious, it's playful and reverent and expresses the mixed feelings of his devotion in an honest, positive and fun way. (With a little edge of pain to it) Have you listened to the lyrics besides the title?

Also, I think the female (W&L, I think) voices going Ho, Ho, Ho are really beautiful and almost angelic, adding a soft counterpoint to the harshness of "bitch".

Yeah, it's my favorite Prince song. Definitely.

the part in the song towards the end that goes "everybody...everybody dance"....sounds alot like Cameo

A girlfriend I had been dating heard this in my car one day and fell in love with the song so much it actually converted her into a Prince fan lyricly."I never new he was so passionate" She is/was an Irristable Bitch...she had lines out the door of men who would do anything for her and she knew it. She used men and it gave her power. She heard the song and smiled she knew the song was true, just surprised someone had the balls to sing it. She's proud she's and Irresistable bitch
