Remember the UTCM premire and Prince went to Wyoming and that whole feasco?? Well one thing really made me really like Prince. Remember his date Lisa Barber? Well I wouldn't call her any Apollonia but yet I saw the way Prince treated her and I thought wow! Just the way he looked at her, put his arm around her, whispered in her ear....I mean I think she knew she was no supermodel but I'm sure Prince really made her feel special. It just struck me how any woman could feel beautiful and sexy around that man. I think that is one of the reason women feel so comfortable around him....maybe it is the attention he gives them. When I saw him treat her as if she was just as good looking as any "Prince' girl I thought wow, Prince is class.

He took her peal necklace and never gave it back 2 her!He later said in an interview "she wish that he would give it back"

MTV Executive: Absolutely! No, the winner is from a city in Wyoming. Sherridan, Wyoming. About 2000 people live there. Mostly ranchers and farmers. But our understanding is that they love them some Prince.

Prince: Wyoming...hmmm. Would it be possible to say re-draw the winner? I mean you could, you know, put her name back in the jar and then, you know, pick somebody out from somewhere that people don't ride horses in the town square.

MTV Exec: Let me check (muffled discussion). No, we have to go with this girl. Lawsuits and whatnot. But think about it...your movie is so bold already with the black and white instead of color and the guy dying at the end. We love it. This would make it that much more bold and fearless...to premiere it in a town that no one, not even people who were born there, has ever heard of.

Prince: (Awkward pause) Okay, you're right. We'll go with this. Where are we going to need to set up? We want to do a little show after the movie, play some stuff off the album.

MYV Exec: Our understanding is that they don't have an actual concert hall but the Holiday Inn has a stage that could accomodate a small show.

Prince: I have 23 band members. How the hell (note: Prince still cursed at the time) am I going to get Wendy and Lisa and Wally and Greg and Matt and...well, all my band members on stage. Prince and the Revolution live from the Hotel 6. That's classy.

MTV Exec: Actually, its the Holiday Inn but Prince consider it. When people think of hotels, they think travel. And you're movie, with all of its beautiful French scenery is almost like going on a trip to France. I mean if France were in black and white. We think it's inspired.

Prince: Well, okay. We're on. Let's take a chance! After all, it doesn't matter where we hold the premiere or where we play. There is no way that a movie where I play a self-centered gigilo who falls in love in Paris only to get killed is going to bomb. It is what the people want!

Thank you. Kristal666. I didn't realize how young you was until I read your profile. I have even mentioned this before and I'm not surprised. Prince tried to pull out of that contest according to MTV20: The Contest, but MTV would've sued him and his management if he tried. I noticed he was trying to make the date the best to his ability, but he looked like he would've rather been with Devin Devasquez(Prince's father's date and a perfect clone of Vanity) even she gave her friend that came with the funny look and the friend started laughing at Lisa Barber and the only reason the contest ended up in Sheridan was because all the phonelines to the major cites were tied up and nobody could get through except small towns. Sheridan and Lisa are the winner.

If I was her I don't think I would've had the balls to go through with the date looking the way she looked.

Well, Devin Devasquez used to be Prince's girlfriend. I think she said she lived with him in Minnesota for like six months. I don't know if she said she dated his father. I think he just escorted her to the premire. But anyway I just saying that Prince could of been a complete dick to Lisa and sulked the whole time but he choose not to and treated her as if she looked like Devin even if he didn't have that same obvious attraction.

I remember my mom was trying to win that contest. And I remember watching that when it aired. I think I was 8. We taped it, I still have the tape. Great performance...easily favorite Prince era. Also, I think he was cool in the way he handled the Lisa Barber thing...I also have the People magazine cover story about the whole incident. It was funny.

it was thanks to the win in SHERIDAN Wyoming that I saw Prince and the Revolution LIVE. Denver is the nearest city, so he added a date ater the premiere. July 3, 1986. Prince and the Revolution at McNichol's Arena. Ahhhh.....
