Little Red Corvette-best P song ever?

all of prince's songs are good, but this one is definitely special to me. Your thoughts?
Prince says my name in one of his songs. In Little Red Corvette, he says, "Liz is on the verge of being obscene" Ha, ha, just kidding. But seriously.

its pretty damn near perfection for me , I love love love it .
You quite often see people saying that they hate some of Prince's biggest
hits from the 1980s cos theyve heard them so often , from what I recall I can't think that LRC gets mentioned too much in the overplayed-to-the-point-of-hating category , maybe cos its just too damn good to grow tired of ...ever !
Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

LRC was the first Prince song I ever heard. It was on the radio and I was like, wow... this is a great song! who sings this? then after the DJ said it was by Prince, so ever since then I was on the look out for more Prince songs. Then I saw the 1999 video, then When Doves Cry a little later and the rest is history cool

Don't care how many times it's been spun, LRC is an absolute classic and, yes, perhaps his best song ever. Great question, but AGHHHH! I can't say for sure it's his absolute best. He's got so many great ones that I'd have to spend a day listening to them all and then decide which is the best.
I'll get back to you one day. lol

The 12" version is a definate fav. Whenever I hear the album version on the radio, I wait for him to start going into that velvet sweat speech and shouting MAYDAY.

It's a knock out track music I love it, but as much as I do, I could never single out one particular song as a favourite by any artist with such an extensive back catalogue full of so many gems.

The acoustic per4mance from The Musicology Tour re-ignited my love affair with this song. Classic.

Indeed. The acoustic version, particularly, shows what a beautiful melody this song has. music

I agree. The lyrics from start to finish are flawless.Combine that with the groove and the song structure,it's brilliant!

Did he change the lyrics since he doesn't sing about sexual stuff anymore?

Little Red Corvette, is the best song by Prince or anyone else I've heard of ever. If you listen closely enough, you can hear everything thing from Baroque classical, jazz, Elvis, the British Invasion and the sound of the time he wrote it. It was a microcosm of musical history. And it has that great ability of all great music to put one in touch with the eternal, I know that sounds corny but that's how I put it. I perform the full version of this song, not the radio one, the full one with all the fantastic detours, when people hear this song, it totally wins them over to me, if not Prince.

I don't think he did, but it was also part of a medley so he didn't do the entire song.

that song is far from an easy commercial hit. just because it is great and was hugely popular doesn't mean it is some cookie cutter song.

I like how people judge songs backwards. song becomes a hit so people then judge it differently because so. confused

Sorry, I also think it´s far from his best. Musically quite simple stuff. Very overrated IMO

Kiss is one of his simplest songs, and it's better than LRC
