Prince is a horrible actor Graffiti bridge + under the cherry moon are some of the worst movies i have evr seen. and let's be real, the only acting in Purple Rain is the director convincing Prince + Apollonia that they are doing a good job, coz they sucked major ass. sign o the times is just plain lip synching...

True indeed. But you know not very many celebs can stick to just one thing. I guess they figure their gold streak will follow them everywhere. Singers, rappers and models all at one time or another gotta try acting, Then they all try their hand at a clothing line.

Well, those movies weren't meant to meet the standards of a Shakespearean play... they were meant to be entertaining... and are they not??

he really sucks in acting and so does most musicians.

i can't understand why great musicians think they are good actors. it must be the mighty dollar talking. they should stick to their trade.

as an entertainer I think Prince is great. I found all his movies really entertaining. BUT. as as actor... I wouldn't say that he was the best simply because when I'm watching a movie/play I like to feel as if I'm on set with them and they're talking to me (if that makes sense) but in all his movies his acting was dry and monotonous (I don't know if I spelt that right)

hrm... I love the movies though (just the acting = )

I change my mind... after watching Purple Rain (for the umpteenth time) it wasn't really Prince's performance that let the movie down. A weak cast can also bring down one's performance... if that makes sense?

Prince isn’t too bad an actor. What makes his movies so enjoyable for me though is the depth in which they touch my emotions.

Sometimes I laugh. Sometimes I cry. I sometimes I feel a deep sense of compassion for my fellow human beings. This entire swirl of emotions happens independent of the director’s intentions and are not queued by Prince’s emotional outbursts in the sense that I’m delivering the intended response to scene at hand though. For example, Ingrid Chavez gets hit by a car and Prince exhibits great distress—well, I laugh. Or when Prince pouts to Ingred in bed in that oh-so-cute facial expression—I get nauseated. Or when Prince tears up his father’s basement and does that little distraught cry of his—well, I laugh again.

His movies are an emotional roller coaster surpassing great films like Sophie’s choice or the Joy Luck club.

Ultimately,musicians want to be actors,and actors want to be musicians.Some succeed,some don't.It will be interesting to see how 50 Cent does in his dramatic debut.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I, on the other hand, happen to like his acting. I think he did great jobs in both "Purple Rain" and "Under The Cherry Moon". Since "SOTT" wasn't really a movie, so to speak, I don't judge his acting ability in it. As for "Graffiti Bridge" as fine as Prince is looking in that movie, I never seem to get around to caring about his acting!

well to be honest i really dont think that p's acting in his last three movies were that bad at all. and am not just saying this because am a major fam of Prince.

apparently lenny has been asked to star in movies quite a few times
the reason he said he turns them down is because they always want him to play a bad guy
and he sounded disappointed and started saying most of his songs are love songs
why do people want me to play the bad guy

most of the actors where 1st time actors werent they?
thats why they dont seem the best

Plus, UTCM isn't as bad as people make it out to be. At least give him credit for not sticking to the same type of role that most musicians-turned-actors do most of time. Ex: DMX (always played in action/drama movies playing either a thief or drug dealer), Tupac Shakur (always played a thug or cop), etc. Give the man some credit.

Graffiti Bridge also isn't that bad. I must admit that I'm still trying to figure it all out, but, it's still not that bad.

And how in the world can you put SOTT in a category with acting. It was a concert movie with small segues in between certain songs. And, if you're talking about when he sang U GOT THE LOOK, that was the actual music video that was shot at Paisley Park. You know, people actually lip sync in music videos.
