Prince and Bjork?

Does anyone know if Prince is familiar with Bjork's work (I read somewhere that he used to listen to one of her albums, don't know if it's accurate though), and if Bjork likes P's songs?
I never heard her mention him, but they're 2 of my favourite artists and I hope they'll do something together one day. though musicology may not be bjork' cup of tea confused

I have a vague mental picture that Prince has said that she is very talented but that he hasn't had the fortune of meeting her. Can someone else answer for certain?

Prince referred to her as a "real" songwriter, who properly understands music and composition. He has a lot of respect for her as an artist....and who wouldn't?

If memory serves, he told a Uk magazine that he loved Bjorks "debut".

He thought it was a classic and glad to hear new talent.

well, I was chatting with Prince last night on the video phone and he told me he doesn't listen to anything that ryhmes with pork.

I hung up just as the pigeon message I was expecting from Bjork flew in, with a note saying how her favorite song of all time is Daddy Pop, and she masterbated last night to track 4 on NEWS.

I hope this helps.
this message brought to you by logic.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad he acknowledged her talent but I wonder if he still likes her music (Debut being completely different from her latest releases).
But did Bjork ever mention him? (a mention that does not iclude her love for daddy pop and her masturbation habit biggrin )

Prince had a top 10 albums of all time on his site years ago.

Bjorks 'Post' was in there.

Then again so was Mayte's 'Child Of The Sun' eek

Prince also raved about The Sundays and the Cocteau Twins in the early 90's. I wish he would work with some 'indie' artists,

That's alright, then, as Björk doesn't rhyme with "pork"...

Not to nit pick...but the Sundays and Cocteau twins aren't indie artists. I think you're referring to the genre (indie). Sorry but that's a touchy subject with me. Indie isn't a genre. Technically Prince has worked with indie artists: Maceo, Ani, and...uh that's it I guess.

When i saw him on the Nude tour The Sundays 'Reading, Writing And Arithmetic' was blasting out of the PA before he came on. Great album. I also read somewhere about his love of the Cocteau Twins (on a tangent-i have a bootleg of Jeff Buckley singing some Cocteau stuff).

BTW, like it or not, the term indie has become a genre. Something which annoys the tits off me, but that's the music press for you....

while their styles are total oppposites i wish prince would dare to compete with bjork....

imagine him recording a song without "mapping" out the vocals...just writing lyrics and singing them naturally and thats it..

no fifty million layered vocals or dubs....

pure rawness...

I remember a post of the NPGMC wondering why Bjork wasn't more famous in the States, and I actually remember reading an article when she was in the Sugarcubes saying she hated Princes voice (I'm taking the quote completely out of context, like she said something like she liked his music but hated his voice. I read it over 10 years ago so I could be off). There was rumour of a collaboration on her site about 3 years ago but of course came to nothing.

I'm finding Bjork harder work recently. Her videos and songs haven't been as captivating for me. I can see shes pushing boundaries but they're leaving me puzzled. Anyone seen the Where Is the Line? video. It's fuckin bizarre, she's covered in sacks, gives birth to a waxy lard creature that throws up and rolls around in hay in a stable. Usually I'm in tune with her 'strangeness' but this was like 'WTF did I just watch???'

I bought the Medulla DVD to see the new video "Where is the line?", and I was truely disappointed. It looks cheap and even if I like her weird videos, this one looks like it was home made. I understand this song is meant to be creepy and weird, but I think this time the video falls flat. Just like she needed to add another video to the set(sorry about my English mistakes)
It's great to know that she like Prince's music, but I wonder why she doesn't like his voice. I remember her saying on a French show that she was a fan of MJ's voice confused

It's been considered a genre here in the UK for twenty years, no matter its etymology.

well, that doesn't mean it's right...or is legit.

Indie is business type/ideal, not a genre or sound
