Prince doing Live 8 goes along with his new image. Well doesn’t it? The man was everywhere with Musicology thrusting himself back into the mainstream. He already contributed to the Quincy part of Live Aid in 85, so why not perform now? I’ve heard more rumors about cancer stricken Kyle and “back problem” Mike doing the shows. Personally, I didn’t love all the awards and such, but now that he’s done it, doing Live 8 seems like a perfectly good transition between musicology and the next album.

Good Point....but.... Prince has never done these types of benefits as he likes being on the outside of the mainstream while enjoying the "intrigue" it causes and continually perpetuates his mystique. He's garnered another Grammy and that let us all know he's back on the so-called "mainstreams" radar....so as good as this sounds...it most likely will not happen.... ![]() The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.

Its the biggest world music event since live aid. Concerts in London, Philly, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Edinburgh (so far). Its arranged by bob geldof, just as Live aid was. But its called Live 8 because 20 years on, he wants to try a different tack. The G8 summit is coming up, and he wants all the G8 countries to write off 3rd world debt. I think its failed to catch the USA imagination because there was no "we are the world" single to proceed it this time. Plus Bush isn't jumping on the band wagon because he doesn't want to have to match the other industrial nations contributions to poverty. .

exactly. Don't write off the US public! They can be some of the most giving people on earth! Its just whether they get to hear about it through their the media! I'm hoping there will be a last minute break through. Will smith has agreed to host the US leg, and now, MJ might perform with Stevie. things are picking up! .
