Money Don't Matter 2 Night. The song title alone
has opened Prince up 4 criticism, some of it
well-deserved. Remember the Jam of the Year tape with 2 songs 4 $20. That one still has 2 rank as the worst rip off your loyal fans stunt ever...(And 2 add insult 2 injury, he was calling us "Fanatics" in interviews). Of course, I love Prince enough 2 4give him, even if it was at the same time of the Crystal Ball Nightmare.
Foo Fighters, just released
a new Double CD, and were asked about the pricing,
which was just $1 more than a single disc release.
Here's what Dave Grohl had 2 say :

The two-disc set is priced at $19.98, $1 more than the standard list price for a single-disc release.

"I remember having the pricing discussion with my lawyer and her explaining to me that you don't get paid the same amount for each song that you would if you released them separately, but the whole idea was to display the contrast" between the two albums, Grohl says. "I thought they'd complement each other in one package, and I don't need any more money. I'm fine, thanks."

Does anyone in their right mind think Prince would've said that? Probably not. Even though Prince has probably made ten times as much money as Dave Grohl, he's probably also spent 100 times as much. Let's hope he saved something from the success of the Musicology tour.

sometimes i think prince would just bleed his fans because he knew how much most of us would pay for a crappy sounding bootleg, and he wanted in on some of that dummy money. good for him, i say. if i thought something was a rip-off, i wouldn't buy it. i still won't. meanwhile, i'm happy with what i have.

When 1999 was first released it was a deal like the Foo's newest cd.
The price of 1999 was much lower then other double album sets at that time.
A double album back then was around $9.99 while 1999 sold for $6.99.
