EXODUS sum questions PLS ANSWER !!!!!!! I was hooked up with the EXODUS album recently and i have to say WOW ...songs like hallucination rain are just so different to what u would expect to find on a prince album ,,but then contrasting this is songs like new power soul and the AWESUM AWESUM song GET WILD ..so far this is my fave song on the album ,,
just a few things i noticed 1:,,one song (cant remember the name ) has the same chorus lyrics ,with a slight variation ,as NEW POWER SOUL the first track on the NEW POWER SOUL album . .2:another song (again cant remember the name ) the lyrical delivery sounds like the first verse of "its gonna be a beautiful nite" 3: the main vocals on the album ...this is sonny T and prince doin co or backing vox right ??? 4:can sum1 tell me what the song 'COUNT THE DAYS " about ??its about him counting the days til his contract with warners was up ,,correct ??? 5:was this album released b4 or after Gold experience ?? what year exactly ??1995 i guessed .?? 6:Prince used the alias TORA TORA on this album too is that right ????.. i also just wanna say again that GET WILD is a fuckin awesum song ,,just simply awesum // its weird that "dream factory plays in the background of the dj segue as crystal ball was still 2 years away ,,, anyways hope sum1 can clarify any or all of these points ,,As i was given a burned cd copy i dont have access to the album info ... this is a gr8 album and id recommend it even to non prince fans ,, [Edited 6/3/05 19:43pm] | |

Exodus came out the same year as Gold, 95. It came out the summer before the Gold Experience.
Prince as "Tora Tora" shares vox with Sonny T. Yes, the line "Get Freaky/Let Ya Head Bob" is from the song Big Fun and the line appears on the song New Power Soul from the 1998 cd. Dream Factory is a song from 86. It was also going to be a Pricne album along with the origial 3 album Crystal Ball set. The albums were basically combine to make Sign O The Times. The Crystal Ball we have is a collection of unrelased, bootlegged and remixed tracks. He just decied to give it the Crystal Ball name, and of course, the title track from the original Crystal Ball is on there. Personally, I always believed that "Count The Days" was about his contract with Warners too. Hope some of this helps. The track on 'Exodus' to which you refer is 'Big Fun'. At this time, Prince (or  ) was in dispute with Warners, performing as the alter ego, Tora Tora, and speaking with the deeper voice you can hear on 'The Exodus Has Begun'.

It can be interpreted as a song about his contract with WB, but at the same time it could also be interpreted as a song about people wasting their time and talent, doing bad things instead of positive things.("...here´s my chance 2 cure the ills of the people but not until I make this muthafucka pay.."). My personal opinion is that Prince chose the name 'Tora Tora' as a war cry against his record company. Tora Tora was the cry used by Japanese bomber pilots dive-bombing targets at Pearl Harbour. It means, 'Tiger Tiger'.
Except, in recent years it was revealed that this was wrong - in fact the pilots were saying 'To' meaning, err, to, as the codeword to their commanding officers meanign they were attacking the target and 'Ra' meaning success, hitting the target. The American radio operators just heard lots of 'To' and 'Ra' and put the 2 together! | |
