Some people say it is a little cheesy, but I think of the song as a trip, a bit like Crystal Ball. The various textures are compelling enough to balance each other. To use a decoration analogy, I would compare it to one of those rooms with red walls, yellow carpeting and purple cushions '' very few could make it work, but Prince does.

The climax at the end is genius

a lovely tune.....easily one of my faves. if this is any indication of the kinds of recorded, but unreleased Revolution tracks that are sitting in the vault gathering dust, I say we form a posse, Wyatt Earp style, and raid Paisley Park.

it is kool...listen to some early 80's kid creole and the coconuts to hear the inspiration for it...

I can't tell you how fun it was to discover this on vinyl in 1988 on a bootleg called charade, and then slowly realize that the lyrics were telling you to play the record "double speed to hear a climax fit for a king".
