Cat and Prince

Was there any romance between them? Why did she leave? Where is she now?

She wanted to make a solo album in 1989, Prince wanted her to make one too - but the straw that broke the camel's back as it were, was that Prince wanted to produce it and have artistic control over it. A number of songs were written (all with Cat in the title if I remeber correctly) I'm not sure if the demo '9 lives' was one of them, 'Cat Attack,' 'Cat & Mouse,' and 'A Man Called Jesus.' ALl pretty lame titles im sure you'll agree with the exception of the latter which Im sure Mavis Staples later recorded anyway. Also, if memory serves correctly, a track was written (not sure if it was written by Prince, Cat or both) about the Black Album - maybe Lange or Boris can clear up the details etc here.

She packed her bags and left for England where she made a single called "Catwoman" (on Red Dot Records, distributed by Warner Bros) with Tim Simeon of 80's acid house outfit 'Bomb The Bass' - pretty good it was too. The album was planned to be called 'I Am Energy' if I remember correctly.

I've a few articles knocking around somewhere from around that time, I'll try and dig them out and scan them for you later today.

Hope that helps.

True story, about 11 years ago I met Cat through my cousins wife who was a hostess at the LA Glam Slam during the time. My cousins wife knew I was a huge fan of Prince at got me Vip passes to the club and rare items from the club. One evening she came over to my aunts house and introduced her freind Cat to us,and at first I did not recognize her as she looked rather haggard, like she was possibly on drugs,(it should be noted that my cousin is no longer with his wife due to her drug addiction). I was pretty nervous about asking questions, but I did,she says her favorite time was during the Lovesexy tour drinking beers in London with Prince and the band, and that for one of Prince's birthdays she bought him a lace bodysuit, and that they wore the same size, and lastly she said she rarely keeps in touch with him but that he sends her flowers on her birthday.

Awesome, cool dude.

Like nana said she came, she danced, she disappeared - and relatively gracefully.

(BTW great to see you, Nana.

London currently?

There's still a pint anytime.)

thanks for the story... cat worked intensely with prince for a few years, completely influenced his choreography at the time... I bet she has tons of good stories.
