Ditto - and at many gigs, most recently the ONA at Hammersmith Apollo, which was fairly difficult given the seated, laid-back vibe and being surrounded by people not even willing to light up the government weed

i've been to paisley parties where folks were gettin smokey-okey out in the parking lot before they came in through the door...

I've only been to one show (last year's Musicology tour in Jacksonville, Florida). I was in the 3rd row, so I don't think anyone would have been bold enough to pass a doobie around in Prince's peripheral vision.

Don't know if any of you have seen the bootleg of the Tampa Musicology show, but there's a sister on stage with P wearing a brown shirt, and I'm pretty sure was high. Prince sang part of a line from "Kiss" and then put the mic in front of her to sing the rest. She just stood there with a dazed look in her eyes. I think she even tried to kiss Prince, but he walked away. He then went to one of the edges of the stage and made the "crazy" gesture with his right hand in acknowledgement that the gal was fucked up.

I laugh my ass off every time I watch that part.

at the nyc show last year i was thisclose to the stage and i smelled it coming from the two dudes next to me. now i'm a pothead deluxe, but to me it was offensive because i'm sure it was trailing onstage and my companion is asthmatic...so it was a little annoying. i think they should've imbibed before enterting the venue. but hey, maybe i'm just uptight

This fan loves a joint or two. I have also smoked at his concerts.

He interrupted an aftershow concert in Cologne/Germany in ´98 because people were smoking weed. They opened the side doors to let some fresh air in and Candy warned the audience in German not to smoke any joints, or otherwise...

Prince said something like " stop smoking those funny cigarettes"...

By the way, his live version of One Of Us with that long intro and Morris on keys was the BEST version I´ve ever heard.

Yep, both times I saw Prince at the Oakland Coliseum in '88 and '01 fans were lighting up. In '88 tho, the people left after Prince waxed spiritual.

I didn't see any at Musicology, but I smoked much bud at the JOTY shows myself, and saw some folks doing likewise.

Of course that was Germany, and they don't have strict laws against smoking weed like we do in the U.S., I don't beleive.

I've also heard that the variety of pot over there is the primo shit!

I never really think much about Prince and Weed.

I never smoke marijuana becuase the United States Government says that is bad for me.
I believe everything they tell me.
They never lie to suit their own needs.
They are very moral, wise, and all-knowing.
They display not a shred of hypocracy by cracking down on weed smokers, but allowing beer and cigarettes to remain legal.
They never have an agenda.

At the fillmore show a couple years ago; people were getting bomb-a-tron'd before Prince came on. It's SF of course, so you know how we roll...anyway Prince brought some older white guy on stage to dance (Prince called him "walt disney"). Prince had him singing and dancing-the guy was a wreck (just a white guy with no rhythm). Anyway Prince concluded Walt's portion of the show by saying: "now I know who was smoking all that weed..."
