Who remembers Prince mirrors from carnivals and fairs? I was cleaning out my grandmother's closets last weekend and ran across two items that I had totally forgotten that I had. They are two Prince mirrors. Back in the 1980s, record album covers were copied and placed over a mirror. The edges of the mirror were left exposed so it made a mirrored frame around the picture. These were usually available as prizes at carnivals and fairs.
I had totally forgotten that I had these and they have been stored in my grandmother's closet for years. One mirror is of the "1999" album that I won at a carnival back in 1983. Instead of the picture being purple, like the album, it is red and the edges are trimmed in mirror. This one is in excellent condition. The other mirror is of the "Purple Rain" album that I won at the state fair in 1984. This one isn't trimmed in mirror and hasn't held up very well over the years. The image is starting to peel away from the mirror. I remember my sister was very good at winning things and she had a HUGE mirror of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album. My brother got mad at her back in the day and broke the damn thing. Does anyone remember the mirrors at the carnivals in the 1980s? I haven't been to a carnival in years and I don't know if they even make those mirrors anymore. Andy is a four letter word.

Wow, I'd forgotten about these. I won a Motley Crue one -- I think it was a pentagram -- upside-down five-pointed star. Certainly not my type of thing these days.

I've had my Purple Rain mirror put away in a box. But about 5 years ago I came across it and it has been sitting by the window in my office since then. The sun hasn't fadded it at all and is still in great shape. Shut up already...Damn

Like Snap, I totally forgot about these! I had a Purple Rain mirror. I can't believe I'd forgotten about it. Damn. Thanks for bringing this up vainandy! It's like you've just given me "new" memories. Wish I still had that mirror, but it's long gone.

Wow, I had never seen one of those! My sister had a huge felt cut out of P's eyes lips nose and mouth on her bedroom wall though. It was beautiful... Shake....shake, shake, shake.
