That's cool but I personally don't care for it.

Worst song on there IMO if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

To each his own, I suppose, but IMO it's a very low point on the album. Anytime Prince takes to covering a song, fiddling with the lyrics, and changing the overall tone and message, it's a bad thing.

UGH...one of the worst on the album, I think. But then again, I've been told that that song and Baby Knows and So Far So pleased are the best on that disk...so I just don't know.
I happen to like practically all of the other songs. Christian Zombie Vampires

Haven't heard P's version, but I LOVE Sheryl's...

i quite like Rave.
Winding road is fine until Larry starts all his love patter. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Kinda pointless IMO. Sheryl's version is better, and its nice he was giving her some recognition in recording it, but its alot worse than many other songs on there. Its not even close to I Love You But I Dont Trust You Anymore, or Pretty man - they're fantastic.

Well, is this a Prince song, and Sheryl recorded it, or vice versa?

Well, is this a Prince song, and Sheryl recorded it, or vice versa? It's Sheryl's song...and whoever else helped her write it. Prince's version is pretty bad.

Horrible version of a good song. If he wanted to give her props, he shouldn't have buried her in the mix on Baby Knows.

I love his more upbeat version of this song
great for dancing but for some reason my best friend said it sounds like something he would hear at a gay club and "vouge" to If you will, so will I

He destroyed the song! | |

It's got some P-Funk moments which I think are cool -- just woulda been better if he had built his own song around them. Check out "Family Name" and "The Everlasting Now" on The Rainbow Children.

this cover is an abomination, particularly Larry's vocal involvement. quite possibly the most misguided and awful thing Prince has ever released. there are worse songs, there are worse performances. but this pretty much sums up everything that was wrong with his work between 1996 and 2000 in one dire little package. And there you have it. I'm no 'fam' by any means but there aren't many P songs that I absolutely loathe. I pretty much like all of them or can find something redeeming in them. Even the ones everyone else hates! Arms Of Orion - yup Jughead - er, yeah, even this But I never thought I'd hear a song as bad as 'Damned If Do' until this one crawled out. Wrong in every single way.

wow....impressive how people have different tastes...
Yes, I like Larry´s bass, but the production is so slick....it´s the worst song on Rave IMO.

This thread is like sheep mentality in the reverse. Everyday is a Winding Road is definitely no masterpiece no matter who's singing it but it's not the worst thing on that album-- that distinction belongs to Silly Game followed by any of the first three songs. Just because Larry Graham's on it people get all bent out of shape-- don't deny it.
