"7"~ This song is such a beautiful, & truthful song! Means alot to me in diffrent ways! "The Cross"~ Just a beautiful spritual song. "Purple Rain"~ The lyrics alone can take my breathe away... "The Beautiful Ones"~ Cause what he says is true: "The beautiful ones you always seem to loose...". "Anna Stesia"~ It always brings me up, when I'm feeling a little less than full. "Free"~ I love this song so much! Such a beautiful song, with simple, yet powering lyrix! "Lets go krazy!"~ Just the song title is enough! "When Doves Cry"~ I love the lyrics & the melody, & I love where he says:"Maybe you're just like my mother she's never satisfied. Like I said the lyrics R amazing! "Play In The Sunshine"~ That song is such a feel-good, dancing all over, smiles all around, song! I love it! Really gets me goin! "Starfish & Coffee"~ Y I love this song so much? "Uptown" and "Sexuality" helped me feel like I didn't have to give in to society's conventions. I could be whatever I wanted to be and to hell with the tourists and double-drags who didn't/wouldn't get it.
"Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)" plunged me into the neon underground and made me see all the wonderful shades of purple. "Computer Blue" furthered my interest in emotion vs logic and biology vs programing. Also made me aware of the texture of songs. "The Ladder" connected me with the universal yearning for meaning and spiritual evolution, and drove away the loneliness that would, at times, plague my search. And though I wasn't on the Christian path, "Eye no" and "Lovesexy" are joyous affirmations of positivity and faith in a transcendent reality that buoyed me when I felt in doubt. I'm sure there are more, but these are the first that come to mind.

hey you changed the title of this thread from "deep songs" to songs that have made an "impact in ur life" -- good thing I didn't answer the first time because it would've been a different answer
anyway, for "impact" i'd go with Anna Stesia [Edited 6/8/05 13:58pm]

I think for me the song that really hits home is; " The Question of U" I like this because of how it causes you to think about choices that you make and how it will define your life. Plus the must was dark as all get up. Man, was Prince going through a rough time when he wrote this?
My next song would be "Do u Lie" that was a cold, cold song.I lied this one because of how it really makesyou think about another persons trust. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.” Brazilian bishop Dom Hélder Câmara

I'm just curious. How did you use it to your advantage? Please expound on that brotha. Well since you asked..lol. That song confirmed many of the beliefs I had about relating to women on a deeper level than romanticized love. In the sense that I could be myself around them, without pretension, or thinking that I had to put up some ultra-macho front. I strive myself on being well-rounded, so this song explicitly explored ideas that would make a man more whole. You can be a man, but participate in activities that are not considered normative. I like the ambiguious gender roles, ie. washing your ladies hair, going shopping with her, cooking for her, going to a movie and crying together...etc. That's cool because your lady can see you as a friend as well as a lover. Furthermore, I enjoy all of the things he listed, with the exception of crying at a movie, its not that I wouldn't cry, its just that I'm rarely that moved. The understanding of those things have really helped me in the dating departmen and have also helped me to establish attachments with my female acquaintences that are deeper than mere physical attraction and or romanticized love. The only problem is, I tire of people fast and the strong bonds are hard to sever when you practice serial monogamy. [Edited 6/9/05 12:31pm]

Still will stand all time...I alway loved that song because of it's strong message but it really helped me get through a very horrible situation in my life which I would not get into with anyone here other than Prince, because I would love to thank him for taking me throught those dark times. His words kept me going when I thought I couldn't anymore.
