O.K., here's one I always wondered; the scene in Purple Rain where P's dad is playing the "Computer Blue middle". I like the way that it sounds on the piano & thought that it would be cool to hear the whole thing. [Edited 5/30/05 13:18pm]

does anybody feel they have missed out on the theme of an album/tour?
i went to the gold concert but feel i didnt get his output, through not being a full time searcher of everything he did (in all its forms, mainly visual being the point here). When i see the photos of a tour, the era seems to have passed me by (and i know that is not the case because i listened to each album intensely). i suppose this is tied in with a feeling of regret, as if i have missed out on something (and made worse because it will never happen again).

I get that feeling with early Prince things.. For You to Dirty Mind.. those are the shows I wish could have seen at the time.

Does Prince wear regular men's underwear, like boxers, underneath his lace pants?

[Edited 5/30/05 13:18pm] Agreed! I always loved that track, and wished that it had been recorded/released somewhere as a b-side or something. That's one of those things I love about Prince -- how he shows have the same song can have a different flavor. Ro

Hmmmmm..... {checks through mental roladex) As I recall, it was nothing. I was down front at Glam Slam LA one night when he was wearing that DAMN black lace jumpsuit. He dresses to the left. And he's been circumcised. {me} {My husband} "What are you lookin' at?" {me} "Uhhhhh....his guitar?" Ro

I don't buy it either...why would he have gone to so much effort to tell ppl that he was done playing the hits--and be able to play lesser known gems at arena gigs--just to retire from live performances? He lives for the live gig anyway, it's in 'Willy's' blood. "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

err... No silly. Thongs or G-strings. Ya gotta let the skin show through the lace I don't think he wears underwear at all. During many of his latenite Paisley gis, standing 10 to 15 feet away, you could see just about everything in "outline". [Edited 5/30/05 13:18pm] That part is called "Father's Song," supposedly written by Prince's father, John L. Nelson, and the sheet music for the complete song (a more simple arrangement than in the movie) is included in the Purple Rain songbook (which also includes a short arrangement of the "God" instrumental). The 2nd part of the song (with a 4/4 marching rhythm) is almost entirely left out of "Computer Blue." It's a beautiful composition. At least once, Prince had performed a short run-through of this song live during the Purple Rain tour, and that's the only "official" version I know of (outside of the movie) that exists.
