BOWIE AND PRINCE!!! I just read an article off Google that David Bowie and Prince are in talks to do a song together for a new album? Does anyone know anything else about this and whos album it is going to be? I hate it when production companies keep things underwraps until the release of the album! I can't wait to hear the song!

There was talk of this a few years ago too, but nothing came to light - probably more hearsay then than anything. But Bowie is a long time admirer and supporter of Prince that much I do know.

The article was dated June, 6, 2005 so its not that old. I hope they actually do it this time. I think its a great idea!

I don't want to see Prince collaborating with Bowie... I love Bowie but I remember when he collaborated with Mick JAgger, I think, it was so pitfull...

can you share a link? i haven't heard a thing about this. the only thing i've ever heard about prince and bowie hanging out together was that in '87, prince checked out the glass spider tour in minneapolis, then invited bowie to visit paisley park and jam with him later that night. i don't know if bowie accepted the invitation or not. supposedly he did, but i think that's more wishful thinking/urban legend than fact.
i don't know how i feel about prince and bowie working together - they're my two absolute most favorite artists of all time, and i've often thought they'd make for an awesome double-header tour, a la elton john/billy joel, sting/annie lennox, etc. - but they're both so strongly into their own visions, i'd hate to see them clash. maybe if bowie played sax on a prince song or if prince played guitar on a bowie song - i could see that working. of course, prince could sure hit those freddie mercury high notes on "under pressure"...just sayin'....

[unnecessary homophobic stuff snipped - anx] i think that was a one off mistake and with the exception of maybe the labyrinth(which i happen to like) i cant ever remember seeing bowie looking that rediculous. I reckon they should go for it, i am intrigued to know what kind of sound they will generate together

That's what I usually think too - let one guest on the other's song. Not sure about a duet. But then I think about the covers of eachother I'd like to see them perform. I think if they settled on a song that's comfortably in that rock-soul middle ground that they both like to inhabit, it could be great. Something like Stay or Beauty and the Beast or Computer Blue or Crystal Ball would be fly.

I would've loved to seen this collaboration back when Bowie was in his prime, but not now. His voice has really gone to Hell. His latestalbum was terrible.

i thought his voice was fine on 'reality' - it's the material that i found a little wanting...though i have to say, it's been growing on me lately. pity you didn't see him on tour. his voice was otherworldly live...as usual.

I kinda liked it. A cute/cheesy cover of a Martha and the Vandellas song, as done by rock's Ambiguously Gay Duo. What's not to like? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I don't know why they didn't do it sooner. I hope that they agree to do it without letting their egos get in the way. Can you imagine Prince and Bowie live? Talk about "Raw."

I would love to hear a Bowie Prince collaboration. their 2 unque sounds i think would certainly compliment each other. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

no way, having seen his Reality tour, his voice is better now than years ago....and Reality is a fine album...on a par with Heathen in my book.

You don't remember the first round of the fan sent questions (this was an era when e-mail was still a novelty invention) for at the original dawn.com website? One of the questions was "Would you ever consider a collaboration with David Bowie?". And his own answer was, "You should have been there."
Saw it with my own eyes. | |

Saw it with my own eyes. and as we all know ever so well, prince is never full of crap. i'm not saying it didn't happen...i'm just not investing a lot in the possibility of it having happened.

I wish someone could get more info on this. There is only very little info on the net being released. I wonder what song they are going to do together. I tell you Prince is really getting around he just had a hit album "Musicology" and just did a song with Stevie Wonder too.
