Prince and the conservative-religious community. We all know theat Prince is deeply religous and spiritual. If anything it's in an unconventional and nontraditional way.
While he firmlybelieves the Bible many people in hte religious community are so against him. He was saying that many religious conservatives were argueing against him when he was goint through the Purple Rain perios because of his sexual flauntiness. I don't know if the conservatives and religious followers are still in disagreement with him. Working up a purple sweat.

i think most people who are in the super-religious-fundamentalist reactionary scene probably aren't up to date with what prince is about these days, and have an image of him that's still frozen in 1984 and 'purple rain'. i'm sure if they were informed of his whole JW kick these days, they'd just call him evil all over again for joining the "wrong" religion.

Prince is far from having any cross-over appeal in Christian circles. Though strange enough, "Christians" who have songs about their confusion of loving or hating their God (or boyfriend -- it's all up to your interpretation anyway) have had huge cross-over appeal in the secular arena. It seems that Christians are more accepting of those who dive into the world with a vague Christian message than they are of Christians already in the world who have a bolder statement to make. Dez, Sheila, and Denise/Vanity have been accepted by Christians all over, but Prince still has a way to go... it seems.

That also applies to alot of Prince fans who cherish the vague religious messages he used to express.

that's the problem these days... too many take offense at having their beliefs challenged; they'd rather have the interpretation left up to themselves. how do we learn to be firm on the truth we discern -- everyone yells "shut up" instead, "we'd liked it when you kept your mouth shut"
