Acknowledge Me Anybody else think if this was released as a lead single during the Gold Experience era that (1) It would have been played all over the place at clubs,(2) It would have charted very high TOP 5,(3)and lastly it would have created a very strong buzz for the album release, your thoughts please.

Probably would've done well with more push behind it.

Its a horrible, lame "new jack swing" song that was written five years too late.
One of the worse examples of Prince compromising his art for the elusive "hit".

I think, one of the songs that really got me hooked up with Prince in the early 90s. That in mind, I'd say it would have been a great follow-up to the TMBGITW single.

One of the worse examples of Prince compromising his art for the elusive "hit". I could almost go along with that if Prince had actually released the song. I love this song and I wish Prince had left it on The Gold Experience.

All hail emesem!!!! You are 110% correct with your thoughts on "Acknowledge Me". The true low point of this song was watching Prince lip-synch to this song on "Soul Train" back in 1994. I thought the same thing back in 1994 that you just said now in 2005.

Funny- because I loved that Soul Train performance, and the song, and that entire Prince era.
