Prince may not have given interviews back in the day, but many of his protegees did and they didn't mind spilling some dirt on Prince if they were bitter enough. People that absolutely refuse to believe that there is a chance in hell that these protegees are telling the truth, are totally obsessed "fams". Since we all, as humans are not perfect and have done somebody wrong at some time or other in the past, what makes Prince the exception? A normal person knows that, an obsessed "fam" refuses to believe that Prince can do wrong, even after they have heard that he can. Just look how many times some of these people went to see the "Musicology" tour. Some of them went around 10 times. That means they had to spend all their money on $75 per concert, in addition to traveling the country. I'm surprised some of them still have jobs left. This may be off-topic, but...
I was watching an old Prince interview last night from (I think) the Jam Of The Year Tour shown on MPLS' Channel 9. It was the first time P had played a hometown arena in something like 10 years. 
Anyway, the interviewer asks Prince why he's taken so long to play Minneapolis and - according to P - it was because his previous bands didn't want to. Apparently, the critics gave them a hard time and didn't quite understand what he was trying to achieve. I was, like, 'WTF???!'. I'm sorry, but as much as I love Prince, I find it hard to believe that that is the case. As if Tommy Barbarella is gonna say to P: "Oooh, I don't want to play Minneapolis - those nasty critics" and that's that. Tour rescheduled. Bollocks. Everyone knows that it's Prince's way or the highway. I love the little man but I think he has a way with words, sometimes. And, yes, I think he has a conscience. | |
