Prince influence on your music tastes Prince is my favorite artist and I listen to his music everyday,but
Being a fan of his has lead me to lots of other great musicians who also rank highly with me. Actually quite a few of my favorite musicians I discovered through Prince like Shelia E. (obvious connection) Santana (one of Prince's major influences) Kate Bush (never heard of her til I downloaded Why Should I Love You?) Alicia Keys (when I heard she covered one of his songs I bought her album) Nikka Costa (got her album after seeing her on Live at Aladdin DVD) so has anyone else found an artist or another genre they like through Prince?? I started buying all kinds of Joni Mitchell in 1984 and have loved her music ever since. Also got into Santana and P-Funk and was very surprised (almost disappointed) when I heard they'd been doing "Prince" music long before Prince did.

i got every song P covered @ the musicology concert--
led me to whole lotta love-- led zeppelin -- ps i now love led zeppelin knock on wood-- various versions i started getting more live covers he had done.... skintight- ohio players some james of course--- hotpants is a favorite I just looked back,with his music-- he has no effect on my insatiable appetite for reggae, r&b, hip-hop, rap, rock and whatever the hell else it is i listen to. I would say that Prince has influenced my musical taste ina sense that I have been drawn to artists who help create the Minn. Sound. Basically, I listen to most of his protogees, former band members, affiliates and ect.
Also, I listen to groups that mimic Prince/Minn. Sound sound. The groups that fit into this catagory would be Ready For The World, and Mint Condition just to name a few. | |

Yeah, I was listening to Santana's playing on his live album and I was thinking how Prince has a similar way of playing. You can really here the influence in his music, I love it! If you will, so will I | |
