Does it get your juices flowing... ...when people pass judgement on ol' boy P?
I must say..the other day me and my friend were talking-- and she knows i LOVES me some Skipper--- I was telling her about this outfit he wore one time-- that happened to be partially see through on the ass (All you ass buffs check out the Prince and the Revo. Live tape fr. '85)..and she finally admitted it...her true feelings. She said she thought Prince was disgusting. Now, mind you, my homegirl aint no prude...and she really said that. 
 I felt like I had to defend, protest...open her up to something she'd never before experienced...I felt a little hurt (and a little silly for feeling that way too)...
and all I could muster up from my infinite fandom was "You just dont understand...One day, maybe..." Damn. I still feel I failed as a street educator and overall liberated mind... anybody offer their thoughts. Comments? Disappointments? Wanna fight me again? Discuss. U gotsta appeal to the individuals sense appeal. Of course he be disgustin' ....but u dont "sell" THAT aspect of his glory. | |

And That usually means in these matters that she thinks (unconsciously of course) he has some sort of potential to represent the type of male image that she favours, but has the audacity not to. That's how we humas feel about everyone who to some extent would meet our standards as a potential mate, but on some conceptual/socially constructed level (like the choice of clothing) they don't meet with our preferences. Of course, even manatees are sort of disgusting and we don't want to mate with them, so this theory might be a bit awry even from the start point on. | |

No...I just think that everyone has their opinion...sometimes it is hard...several folks question my "devotion' to the man...but I do not get in a fightin' stance...

It's OK 
He can (used to be) somewhat disgusting (mostly during the 81-83 and 90-94 eras) but just outright disgusting?? Hardly. She may have been introduced to the wrong Prince era.
He certainly hasn't been for years. But then again, most of them think he's still the symbol, right?  [Edited 5/26/05 20:49pm] | |

The era wasnt even that bad.
