Actully, if I'm going to play some Christmas songs I think 4 The Tears in your Eyes, while not specifically about Christmas, fits the Christmas spirit better. Another Lonely Christmas is on my Bah Humbug--the irreverent mix-- cd including: Father Christmas--The Kinks Christmastime in Hell--South Park A Lonely Jew on Christmas--South Park The Chaunnakah Song--Sandler Oh Holy Night--Cher and a couple others [Edited 6/3/05 12:16pm] Now, 4 The Tears In Your Eyes sounds more contrived and cold than Another Lonely Xmas. It lacks feeling. If you-- you being a generalization here-- can't dig the latter then something's wrong with your ears.  |

The full-length version of Another Lonely Christmas is the b-side of the 12" I Would Die 4 U... it's approximately 6:56 in length, and every second is worth it - particularly at the end.
Seek it out through the nefarious channel of your choice, but be warned: once you've heard it, you'll never be able to listen to the edited version on The B-Sides again! |

Now that I look back on it this might be the song that cemented Prince's greatness in my mind. It's one of the most heartfelt, unique songs I've heard. Pure Prince. |
