Prince - 'Motherless Child' Live at Septimo! Just updating the iPod and sticking all the audio of video stuff I have from through the years. (2000 Prince/Related songs so far!) and forgot about this classic classic prefromance.... 'Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child' live on a show called Septimo in Spain is it?
Genuinely one of his greatest TV performances and the audio quality is spot on. Driving around Dublin in the rain blasting it out and looking insane as I sing along. What show was this from though? THE VAULT book has nothing about it. Wow... he should do a DVD or double CD of his greatest LIVE performances though the years and assemble it like a show. Motherless Child would be on there - no question. “Tuna, you better do something or else we gonna have to put you back in the can!”

Motherless Child from Septimo is the ONLY 1999 TV appearance where he puts his heart and soul into the performance - it's stunningly good.

'Motherless Child', 'Prettyman' and 'The Jam'.... were there more? He should have sung 'Motherless Child' on Rave DVD! “Tuna, you better do something or else we gonna have to put you back in the can!”

It WAS mentioned in The Vault book - 22 November, 1999, page 246.
What's always interested me, is 'Motherless Child' a cover version? I looked into it recently, and people have released various songs with the lyrics 'sometimes I feel like a motherless child' but the actual original song seems to be an old traditional spiritual song with no specific author. Also, I have never heard of him singing this before or since? I just think it is clever he put it to the drum pattern of 'Love... Thy Will Be Dne'. [Edited 5/23/05 5:53am]

He always used the "Love... Thy Will Be Done" drum loop. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

Didn't he do it at one of Celebrations, either '00 or '02? Lyrics were. "Freedom, freedom....sometimes, sometimes, I feel like I'm gonna die." Or something like that...

He does some funny dance like right after his guitar solo. Like he's dancing backwards or something. That was a great show though. Had to get it downloaded. Paul G II
