why do so many of us wish for a reunion of this group ???? i know they were great and prince had his biggest commercial success with this group...BUT..do u think in 2005 it would really have the same effect that it had in 1983-1986 ????
music has changed...production has changed...and the image we all have of prince and the minneapolis sound has changed...for me the best thing about a reunion is if the old wendy and lisa song writing influence returned and i have to admit i miss the prince & the revolution FUNK and the image of band unity...i just wonder would it be as fresh today ??? or would anyone besides old school diehard fans even care ???

It wont be the same at all, why should Prince ever want to step backwards when his future is looking so great, is what I say. Good question.

Prince said back in 1999 he had a lot of Revolution recordings in his vault. I wouldn't mind hearing those sessions. I also would rather see him move foward than try to reform the Revolution. If he did a "one time only" thing for the fans at Paisley or a benefit show, then that would be cool. It would be nice to hear the unreleased "Roadhouse Garden" recordings. I think all of them are in different mindsets today and it probably wouldn't be the same.

all of them have moved on. I love some of the Drs. work from his recent album. I would love to hear how prince could incorporate his evolved style into new music....Lisa and Wendy have evolved by leaps and bounds....

we should never deny the synergy created by talent.....even if those involved had a previous lifetime together...

and lets not forget these are the only group of people that can put prince to task when it comes to making music. Wendy would pimp slap prince if he tried to put something like Life of The Party on wax....

Isn't he doing futuristic house type music? I've seen the album on the web but not in the stores. His influence would be great working with Prince.

dr fink was with prince from 1979 till 1991 so he should be part of the reunion. he was also on the purple rain dvd

Prince is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. You all know that. If he re-united with The Revolution? Half his fans would whoop with joy, satisfying their own nostalgia trips. The other half would accuse him of making a backward's step and treading water.

Personally, I'd love to see P continuing with the current NPG line-up a little longer and actually hear what they can come up with in the studio. (I don't think 'Musicology' highlights their skills in the same way the original line-up managed to on record). We need at least one k-i-l-l-e-r funk track with John's drumming.

However... as someone who wasn't there the first time round, I'd love to see even a one-off special with The Revolution. Or a Celebration where, each night, a different Prince line-up plays the definitive album - when they were associated with Prince - in its' entirety. That would be cool.

I'm inclined to say that it'll never happen. But it's Prince,. so... That's what I love about him.

Well I for one wouldn't be that enthused. I mean they had cool songs and all at the time but I thought his best band was during the Sign o the times and Lovesexy time. Now that was straight up FUNK! To be honest I wasn't really that big of fans of Wendy and Lisa...I could care less if he did a Revolution reunion or not.

I dont wish for a reunion. In terms of musicianship, they are not as good as the people Prince are playing with now. Lets grow, not recede

sure, if you put the revolution of 84 up against the npg of today, npg are the better talented of the two...

but people act like the revolution members hung up their instruments and quit. they all still play...and they all have evolved as musicians....has anyone here heard Dr. Fink's solo album? Its great....Blows away Renito (or whatever his names) lil twiddling during concert interludes.....

and dont even start me on Rhonda's boring ass bass playing.....Her style just doesnt do it for me....Sure she is technically a good bass player. But her individual style bores....

and no, people who would like to hear new music from prince and the musicians that made up the revolution are not trying to relive the past. we arent trying to act like we are in our 20's or 30's again...thats just a straight arse silly comment that has no base in truth....if you look at what people are posting, and not reading comments with your own biases at play, you will see there are some of us here who have a fond appreciation for the musical styles of the revolution members.

to hear new music from them all would be awesome.....and for me personally, quality music from the man named prince would be considered growth....cause albums like Musicology, TRC (to a much lesser extent) and Rave are steps back..

how anyone could consider that growth is beyond me....
