I wasn't shocked at all because I already had seen a similar outfit on the "Prince and the Revolution Live" concert video from 1985. I had also already seen his ass on the inside cover of the "1999" album. The MTV Awards was old news to me.

What tripped me out was how the media took it and ran with it, like it was something he had never done before.

when i first saw this, it was a while ago, on a clip for something scandalous on VH1 or somthin. i sat there and when i saw it was started to laugh/scream cuz i thought it was so funny and sexy at the same time. great moment for tv. then i thought "Omg , prince is so great cuz he really does not care what u think of him, he's gonna be himself."
