Triple Threat Tour: The Homecoming DVD Man, I have recently seen The Homecoming DVD with performances from Vanity 6, The Time and Prince, all on one DVD. This is THE SHIT man!!!
Very cool to see a gig from Vanity 6 (I now fully understand the meaning of the song "Wonderful Ass", hehehe!) and especially to see The Time at the heights of their powers (1983). Man, what a tight funk unit was that, incredible! Prince and The Revolution's performance was tight too, but what a fruitcake is our freaky little friend, hehehe, he just acts so weird sometimes! Anyway, this is a very cool DVD and I am extremely happy that I have finally seen performances of Vanity 6 and The Time during their heyday. I saw the Triple Threat Tour in person out here in Southern California. Once in L.A and the other in Long Beach. The L.A. show didn't have The Time, just Vanity 6. But the Long Beach show had all three. Yeah, it was a great show. Have to give the nod to The Time at the Long Beach show. They turned it out! It was clearly evident why P would "bounce" The Time from major city dates. He didn't want to get overshadowed. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Yeah, you are right about that, The Time was just so fierce around that time that it was hard (even for Prince) to keep up with them. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time... |

Ah shit, Vanity was sooooo fine. Their set was kinda sorry, though. The music was cool, though. The Time had to play behind the curtain backing Vanity 6 up. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Heeheee. Hey Dansa, that's because over at HQ they are telling people this is not a boot. No they're not. There is a German DVD release (of only Prince's performance) that while not officially sanctioned is actually legally on sale in Europe (no doubt due to some loophole or another). It is frankly piss-poor and actually worse quality than the boots of ths show I have seen, which include The Time and Vanity 6's acts. THIS is the one that was being discussed at HQ as "not being a boot". It may not be an official release, but it is legal. Easy to see the difference - the legal version is on sale on ebay all the time and has a Nude Era photo of Prince on the cover. The best boot version is by Ladybird (wow - never thought I'd say that) and includes the whole show and has a 1999 era pic on the cover. Yeah , i have that German release It doesn't include The Time's and Vanty 6's performances and the screen quality is extremely poor the sound quality is quite listenable How's the screen quality of the 'Ladybird' release ? | |

I never get tired of watching this show. The setlist on this tour was very good. The Parade shows are still my favorites though. | |
