Calling Prince "P" I saw the thread "Prince Fans I Can Do Without". I thought it was interesting that the author of the thread mentioned how P would "hate" to be refered to as P. Seriously, just a side note, EVERYONE in the o.g. lineup of The Time, and Andre all called Prince "P". That was Prince's nickname to them. Jimmy Jam in a televised interview refered to Prince as "P". Then he went to say "That's what we call him, P." When I did a session with Morris and Andre, they both refered to Prince as "P". I doubt P "hates" being called "P". SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

If i'm chattin with my funk buddies we always call Prince "P". It's short and easy and said affectionately. Like a nickname for someone in Your family.
 P stands for Prince  and he is FUNKY!

Ha! I never knew that. I just figured on-line fans started referring to him as "P" just to keep from having to type out his name all the time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You say anyone's name enough times like we do Prince's name and it's natural to just shorten it in conversation/chatting on the 'Net. I wouldn't call him "P'' in person unless I knew him like that, tho. But it's cool in this situation. Just a term of endearment. | |
