When Trent Reznor met Prince

A friend of mine who is a NIN fan has been reading NIne Inch Nails by Tommy Udo. He knows I'm a Prince fan so he sent me a couple of pages that mention Prince. For those who have never heard of this:

So what was the dela with that? confused
Does Prince like NIN or not? And which were the songs that were supposed to be influenced by NIN?
=)

I don't know during which period, but Prince has asked Trent to remix some songs.
When Trent came to the studio, Prince passed him by and didn't greet Trent at all ...
That's when Trent decided that Prince is a musical genius and a big asshole ...
so he left!

But he's still a fan and goes to a Prince show now and than!

I don't know if I messed up this story a bit, but it isn't far from the truth
Your links don't work at this moment ... so I couldn't read your post completely

but ...THE FRAGILE IS A BRILLIANT ALBUM!

NONE ... Trent Reznor is the musical Genius nowadays ... Prince can't reach him anymore. Trent isn't playing save, but he will be in the near future ... you can't stay revolutionary your whole career.

In my opinion, no Prince songs seems to be influenced by N.I.N.

Yeah the links don't work. confused

OK here's a written version:

Reznor was paving the way for artists fighting back against increasing corporate control over their music. Like Prince, who famously appeared at an awards ceremony with the word "slave" written on his face, Reznor felt that he had been used and was striking back by being unyielding.
Oddly there is actually some evidencethat Broken was musically a big influence on Prince. Speaking to Musician magazine in 1994 Reznor said: "Prince was in the studio here the first day I came in, and somebody said: "hey, Prince likes your stuff, he had your Broken CD in the car and he later actually told his people to mix their tracks harder and it might have been due to hearing Broken." I thought they were kidding, 'cause this is a guy whose work I respect immensely. Figured it might just be cool to say "hi" if I ran into him around the studio. Then I find myself at one end of a big long hallway and he's at the other end walking towards me. So I simply said "hi" and waited for him to make eye contact. He just turned away.
That strikes a wrong chord in my Midwestern upbringing regarding simple human decency. I don't mean to sound judgemental, but I've no great desire to meet Bowie now, because in my mind, I'd rather think of him as this cool guy."
Perhaps "Happiness in slavery" was a factor in the statement Prince painted on his face.

I didn't even know Prince knew who Trent was.

The opposite is obviously true bieng that Prince is mentioned in the liner notes of Pretty Hate Machine as "kicking ass way beyond the call of duty" or something to that affect.

Also, the Head Like A Whole Maxi-Single is using a Prince beat for one of it's remixes. I can't remember if it was Tamborine or one of hte Graffiti Bridge songs or something like that, which Trent uses, but Trent made no attempt to hide the sample. You can easily attain that single.

That's the "Opal" mix of "Head Like A Hole", it starts off with the "Tamborine" intro drumroll then goes into the "Release It" beat...
