Do you agree or disagree? For me, this tour was more about demonstrating musical skill instead of the emotional aspect of P's music.

I think that tour was about a few things.

Agree, it was a bit of a showcase of talent ... new band lineup, more emphasis on jazz.

It was also the first big tour since the JW conversion and so there were a lot of religious overtones.

Not sure I agree about the lack of emotion .. it was at this point that we were beginning to see Prince really interact with the audience ... in London, during the accoustic guitar set, he stopped, mid-song, to reply to a MAN in the audience who had shouted 'I love you'. There was a lot more humour in the performance than previously too. The show included the 'Ozzy Shuffle', 'I love U 2 - but not the band', his monologue on the intricacy of caller ID: 'You heard Prince is rich again? ... He is still rich, but he doesn't have any money for you'

So maybe just a different kind of emotion?

it really is shocking ... when the live at the alladin came out ....( since i did see him in DC before that ... ) I was psyched to see the dvd .... i think maybe i have watched it ONCE .... starting from the dumb opening segment ... where it starts out with POP LIFE ... what up with that ???? that wasnt even the opening song ... did he think he had to "capture " some old audience friends attention ?????

Man that DVD didn't do that show justice. I was there that night at the Alladin and it was HOT! What bugged me was that it didn't show the whole show. THey must have cut a good hour to an hour and a half worth of stuff and the real into was never seen and it was great. The whole show was elctrifying but you'd never really know that if you weren't there.

That DVD is such a travesty. Great tour, judging from the reports a great, long ending concert and then he puts 80 min of re-arranged songs on there. Damn.

it's very hard to watch all the way through.
I know I can't do it. Sometimes I just watch
the "The Ride" bonusclip cuz that's about
the only thing on there that I like.
the rest of the dvd is a wasted opportunity.
he could have had an entire concert on it +
some bonustracks, like the audiotrack for a
song like for instance "U Want Me".

But no. It's a butcher job that begins with
Pop Life, which seems very odd indeed and
goes on to stumble forth becoming ever more
painful, reaching the summit in that lame
Ozzy mockery.

Damn Prince, you just went onto the road with
what might have been -musically- your best
and most inspired tour, showcasing some real
amazing talent and than you release this dvd
to celebrate that?

I wouldn't say it sucks, but it's very dissapointing compared to a lot of boots, and how great the tour was! should have been a FULL soundtrack, show and aftershow.

The quality of the DVD is a disgrace and that is the main problem with the concert seeming emotionless. The picture quality is horid and the sound is flat. You cant hear any crowd noise which ruins the atmosphere.

The concerts that have pretty good quality bootlegs, such as in New York and Japan, show that there was plenty of emotion and crowd exitement.

I enjoyed "Gotta Broken Heart Again". Prince's falsetto was awesome and up there with Maceo's sax.
