I need help! My cousin and I are big Prince fans...and we are workin as part-time DJs...so we have a few shows to do at the end of the year for a few school prom nights...we know we gotta play all the new "radio shit" but we wanna spice it up with Prince songs as well...so anyone out there can recommend me a song setlist of P songs to play for a school prom night. Thanx a lot y'all...

well for a shcool prom I assume most of the kids there are not familiar with prince's early stuff, which IMO has some of the "party favorites" like:
"kiss" "Gettoff" "Cream" "sexy mf" "lets go crazy" I also like "peach" for a party... Wander if they would like this stuff... Good luck! | |

Nice tunes...
But i was thinkin whether they'd dig some of Prince's stuff in the Artist era... songs like "Loose!" and "Now" comes to mind...I havent really heard much of Prince's material in the Artist era...so anyone else with more suggestions? I just graduated HS, so here's a list of songs I would have loved to hear:
Let's Go Crazy* Peach 1999* (They would ALWAYS play this at dances and such) I Wanna Melt With U I Wanna Be Your Lover (maybe?) Kiss* Horny Toad Jack U Off (if you can get away with it!) Anything that has a real upbeat tempo will be good. And kids like to dance along to stuff they know, which is why I would play his mainstream stuff. Otherwise they'll all be saying "WTF is this??" (so the stuff with * means DEFINITELY play it). I mean, like, where is the sun? | |

Yeah! Crystal Ball is part of the Arist era...i heard they got a lot of cool tunes 2 play 4 dances... any suggestions will be gladly and willingly considered...

Play a couple songs the kids won't know, but will still be dancible like
Love Sign(1800 New Funk version), Horny Pony I Wanna Melt With U DMSR Jerk Out(Time) 1+1+1 is 3 Then do a RETRO type mix with the just a couple P classics mixed in: GettOff! Kiss LGCrazy 1999 Jungle Love(Time) Nasty Girl(Vanity 6) ...A good prom retro mix should include some Madonna, MJ, Janet, GC's Atomic Dog, etc. I wouldn't play too many Retro songs at a high school dance though, most of the kids expect something off of top-40 radio. Then throw in a couple classics from TC Ellis, Jill Jones, The Family, Good Question, Taja Savelle...when you want the kids to go home, clears just about any dance floor. | |
