best singles covers

Not only does this dude have tight album covers, but the singles covers kick as well.

My favs are:

1999
Let's Go Crazy
When Doves Cry
Raspberry Barret
Sign o the Times
IIWYGF this one's the bomb
ICNTTPOYM
The Future
Beautiful Experience

and all of them kick. The IIWYGF one just looks so dark and cool.
Don't hurt me, I'm a newb. I'm supposed to be stupid.

Sexuality (German)

coolest Prince cover ever. he looks like a male prostitute.
I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

i loved the overall design of the parade singles - the b/w prince portraits on the front and the band member portraits on the back - but i think my favorite single covers were the ones from SOTT, especially 'if i was your girlfriend'. heck, i liked the SOTT single cover, too - i thought it was just really fun looking - but i also had an inexplicable fondness for the cover of the SOTT maxi-cassette as well, which was just a plain peach cover with the title printed on it. lol

Yeah, reached no.25 on the pop chart. "Baby I'm A Star" was the b-side.

The Sign O the Times single cover was great...a nice little gender trick to get you warmed up for the album.

Letitgo was pretty cool.

What about the Lovesexy single covers, the clear plastic number with the shaped stickers that had the song and artist on it. That was a neat idea.
All good things they say never last...

I agree, the IIWYGF/Shockadelica cover fits the mood perfectly.

I'll go with the Family 45 and 12" covers. Classy.

Sheila E's Koo Koo also has a great sleeve.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

vinyl singles - they looked like the big 12" LP vinyl albums, but they were a smaller 7". this is what we had before CD singles - the single would be on the 'A' side, and another album track, an instrumental version, or a new non-album song would be on the 'B' side.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing doctamario in the least; I know he is still somewhat of a newbie ... But I think it is SO eek SHOCKING and cry SAD that people nowadays don't even know what a 45 is!!! I am only 25 years old and I have a collection of about fifty 45's and around six or so vinyl LPs (including Purple Rain, of course!) The '80's are my favorite musical era and I can't tell you how cool it was as a 5-year old to go to the mall and pick up the brand-new "Raspberry Beret" record, with a song I'd never heard of called "She's Always In My Hair" on the flipside! Those were the days!

I know vinyl LPs are still sort of in production (aren't they?), but I think record companies should bring back 45's as well ... they were so COOL once, and now no one knows what the hell they even are!!! *sigh*
