1. Library of Congress entry:

So what the fuss.
Compact disc.
Claimant: Stevland Morris Music, LLC
Created: 2004
Author on © Application: words & music: Stevland Morris , 1950- (p.k.a. Stevie Wonder , pseud.)

2. This is precisely the sort of lyric that Stevie Wonder has been writing (without anyone else) since the 1970's.

3. "And if we live in a democracy and you don't use your
power to vote
Knowin some would like to turn back the hands of time
Shame on us"

As a Jehovah's Witness, Prince wouldn't vote.

-----

If I'm caught at a dance party without my dancin shoes
And everybody dances on my bare feet
Shame on me
If I'm mindin my business just doin the right thing
And you try to front me off in the street
Shame on you
If a family's waiting for that special blessing to
come their way
But they ain't tryin to get on their knees and pray
Shame on them
And if we live in a time where every nation's fightin
'round the world
Yet we can't all agree that peace is the way

Shame on us
Shame on me, Shame on you, Shame on them, Shame on us
(repeat)
So what the fuss

If I gotta get up early in the morning for a job
interview
And I forget to set the stupid alarm
Shame on me
If my children are playin outside like little children
do
And you come 'round there tryin to bring them some
harm
Shame on you
Should I be drivin thru a klantown, find a restaurant
to get me some food
And someone says "hey boy, we don't serve your kind"
Shame on them
And if we live in a democracy and you don't use your
power to vote
Knowin some would like to turn back the hands of time

Shame on us
Shame on me, Shame on you, Shame on them, Shame on us
(repeat)
So what the fuss

If I'm hooked on a habit knowin damn well it could
cost me my life
Yet I keep doin what I should do without
Shame on me
If you're locked in a marriage and your other half
just gives you abuse
Yet you've convinced yourself that there's no way out
Shame on you
If we're jammin the music and somebody's got the
audacity
To say that they can jam it better than us
Shame on them
And should there be just a handful that believe that
we are totally free
And there's no need to fight for equality

Shame on us
Shame on me, Shame on you, Shame on them, Shame on us
(repeat)
So what the fuss

Yeah people, not all inspiration or good songwriting in the music industry originates from prince. Stevie is one of prince's greatest influences and was writing tons of songs for lots of other artists when prince was still just a kid. As far as I'm concerned stevie is the superior artist (though not necessarily the superior lyricist) and I know that prince would say the same

That's all fine and dandy, but you guys said P was involved with the song somehow.
So why is everybody acting like we imagined that people at this site have been going on about a P/Stevie collobration for weeks now.
Whatever...

I really don't care.
I just feel like everybody's picking on the person who started the thread, like he said the dumbest thing in org history or something.
Jeez.

I wasn't trying to pick on the person who started the thread necessarily I just find it funny that some fans try to attribute any creativity to prince. Sure prince's involvement via playing guitar on the track would increase the liklihood of having some input to the song, but stevie, unlike prince in the past, has been good at giving his collaborators and players the credit they deserve and the lyrics and music don't seem any more likely to have prince influence on face value than anything else stevie's done.

Btw I stick by my comment that stevie is a superior artist to prince razz (in every respect except lyricism and dancing; the former I would consider a tie and the latter isn't a fair comparison since stevie's blind).

Prince plays guitar on this song.As far as we know, that's his only contribution.Stevie wrote the lyrics by himself.

If you think The Kid wrote a song just cause it's good, shame on you.

Whomever wrote it the song is whack!

Sounds like (Not Just) Knee Deep: lets see Dr. Dre , Snoop, and every other rapper and artist has used this groove already.
