On May 10th, 1988, Prince released his spiritual album, Lovesexy. The tour, the videos, the pok-a-dot suit Prince wore, and most importantly the songs. My favorites are Anna Steisa, Glam Slam, I Wish U Heaven, and no other than the classic slow jam, When 2 R In Love. Happy 17th birthday, LOVESEXY!!!!

I was 18 when Lovesexy was released. There was a Wherehouse close to my work at the time, and I went and bought it and happily brought it back to work with me...and was then ridiculed for days over the album cover.

i discovered this album rather late, a friend had the cd in his collection and i was in awe of it.i was more than in heaven when he offered to trade it with a tevin campbell cd that i didnt realy care much for.
indeed my favorite songs are glam slam & when 2 r in love.

I remember buying TWO copies of 'Lovesexy' on the day it was released..the vinyl album to play at home (I didn't have a CD player at this point) and the cassette to play on my Walkman.

I think I may have done the same. I remember the anticipation that a new Prince album would create during that stretch from 85-90. I would call the record store constantly hoping that I could get it a day or two early. I remember driving 45minutes out of my way to get SOTT on Monday, rather than on Tues, the official release date. I guess its a function of age more than anything but it would be so great to get that jazzed up for a Prince album again.

I had so much going on at this time of my life that I can't remember even buying this record. I know I had the tape and the vinyl, but the spring of 1988 was so hectic for me. I graduated that year and had to deal with everything that came along with being an 18 year old.

WELL I CANT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE COVER ITS KINDA SEXY. THAT REALLY TAKES A LOT OF BALLS TO POSE NAKED FOR AN ALBUM COVER.

Okay, this qualifies me for dunce of the year.

About a week ago, 17 years after I first heard it, it dawned on me what "Lovesexy" actually means.
I had this great revelation that it means just what it says:"Love sexy."
Say to love, and always be sexy about it.
17 years later, it also occured to me why I never got it. The title was one word, not two. I viewed it as a word or theory he made up, rather than as two words that come one after the other.
