Purple Rain-Wednesday I came across one of the previous threads about P's unreleased albums...includin the 1983 test pressing of Purple Rain...There is a song on it titled "Wednesday" which i have never heard of before. It seems to be in place of where "When Doves Cry" is supposed to be-after "Darling Nikki." My first thoughts were this was an early version of WDC for some reason..but i guess not...anybody out there knows about this particular song...This is interestin stuff...

Piano ballad recorded in October 1983 prior to shooting the film. Included on an early test pressing of the album. Both 'Take Me With U' and 'When Doves Cry' were absent at that stage. It is believed that it was intended for 'Wednesday' to be sung by Jill Jones at the stage when her role in the film was planned to be more prominent. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. Yes,the song "Wednesday" was gonna be sung by Jill Jones in the film.She has a crush on The Kid throughout the movie,and during this deleted scene,she was sitting at Prince's piano,singing "If U don't call by Wednesday..."
The song is so rare that I doubt that few people have ever heard it. | |

i recall readin the original script of Purple Rain...when it was called Dreams...and there was a scene where JJ was singin a tune on the piano...so that was Wednesday...
