Starfish and Coffee...about an autistic girl...The Chorus line is just poetry, the rest of it is pretty easy to figure out.

Ballad of dorothy Parker...is about a guy in a not so good relationship and he comes accross another who thinks he's cute and wants him. But he's faithful and can't do anything with her. I'm not certain if he ends up with her or if he goes back to his girlfriend.

What's the thing with taking a bubble bath with his pants on?

My guess is that, that is his way of telling us nothing sexual happened between he and Dorothy.
Desire, it covers our faces
It happens in curious places
Your body, it covers my tower
Ecstasy is ours

Her -- "You're klinda Cute. Do you want to take a bath"
Him -- "that's cool, but only if I can leave my pants on, I'm kinda going with someone else"
Her (thinking that's more sexy that actually getting it on) - "That sounds like a real man to me"

He'll take a bath with her...but the pants are staying on...meaning he's not going to fool around with her...that much.

Until you're crucified I'll live my life in taxicabs.

The rest of the song I understand, but the taxicab bit confuses me. My best guess is that he's using a taxi to symbolize a shelter, or protection from the dangers of the outside world. In which case, if P.'s at all consistent with his metaphors, it might be worth going over the lyircs to "Lady Cab Driver" as well.

A friend who's starting to get into Prince asked me if Prince'd ever been homeless when he heard these two songs. In our area, homeless people will often hire a cab if they've got the money when it's raining, so they've got a dry place to stay for a while that's safe and where they won't be harassed by police or the rowdy rich kids who think it's funny to beat up homeless folks.

I've always thought that this character is out looking for the Anti-Christ. He always has to be anonymously on the move. Living his life in a Taxi cab would help him do that.

I'm only sayin.....

Last year I had a nice conversation with a cab driver about taxis in Prince´s music and what they stand for.

Could this mean "Let's look for God until it's all over"? A sort of follow up to 1999?

No, I think when he says put us in the truck, he means like take us away to the looney bin!
