Damn you Purple Rain haters! Damn you all!!!!!  It's the best album he's ever made, and it's an awesome movie. And I will not take this badmouthing of great art lying down!!!! You hear that?!!! If you don't like Purple Rain, you may as well not like Prince, dammit!!!!!

No hatin for Purple Rain here. Most know that if it wasn't for that album and movie, he'd be in a different place right now.

It's easily his greatest album ever, and I don't give a damn how "uncool" that opinion is amongst the hardcore fanbase. It's so much better than SOTT. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

It's a great album, but it gets bagged on by the hardcore fans because its popular. Yes some of the songs have been played to death, but that doesn't take away the album's brilliance. It's not my favorite Prince album, but its in the top four.  | |

ANd for many of us...we have heard in concert..Let's go Crazy, Baby I'm a star, WHen Doves Cry and Purple rain (especially Purple Rain...all my love is gone for that song, sorry) over and over and over again...cuz he HAS to play those...along with Kiss and Raspberry beret. I just don't like it being the only thing people think of when they hear his name. And I get annoyed when he continues to play Let's Go Crazy and Purple Rain at award shows and TV shows like doesn't have another 900+songs to choose from that might also be pretty cool to hear sometimes. I think most of us agree its one of his greatest works
and definitely his most popular, but must it be our personal favorite Prince period? uh, no! I didn't experience all the Purple glory, being born in 85 so I sorta took in all his stuff as "new" when I first started getting into Prince. Coincidentaly I'd rather listen to (or watch- "yeah I said it!") Graffiti Bridge for example, any day over it. But Hey that just me  If you will, so will I | |
