Songs Prince should have kept for himself.

Revisted the Time albums last week, and couldn't get past "I Don't Wanna Leave U" on the What Time Is It? CD.
This song is damn near perfect (excpet for that madness at the end). The lyrics, background, music, it's fu@kin awesome!!!
So I got to wondering, if this song would have been better kept and sung by Prince, maybe it would have gotten more exposure. Only die-hard fans really know about that song.

Just wondering what the org thought, and what other songs you guys think that Prince should have kept for himself.

most of his songs should have stayed in the vault...i mean really, Prince's music get worse with each passing year. I personally think he should retire and pose nude for Playgirl.

The cool part about many of the songs he turned over to others is that we usually can find his version in bootleg floating around somewhere.

I LOVE his versions of "All Day, All Night" and "G Spot," for example.

Another Time song I'd love to hear his Prince's version of is "Sometimes I Get Lonely."

How about on The Time's Ice cream castle? Where one of the songs is "If the kid can't make you cum"
He probably should have kept that one.

BABY U're A TRIP is a fantastic song. The bootleg version is far superior to that of JJ.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR is also much better with Prince than Jesse.

LOVE THY WILL BE DONE, Martika sucks

DESIRE, Lame version with The Family
I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt

I love THE FAMILY as much as the next Prince fan, but I've said it time and time again that I wish Prince did a version of the Screams of Passion. Maybe with sheila e, or even with Sussanah herself

Not on The Work. The Time's second album, "What Time Is It?" in which Prince
wrote (most) and did all the instruments and vocals except for Morris' lead.

Thing is, many of these songs wouldn't have been written had it not been for the artist/act they were intended for.

HUH????

I though most were lying about and he gave them to people. Sure a few were written for others...but most were P's to begin with and he gave them the song.

I like that song, too, but I don't think Prince wrote that one.

I remember having an old tape with Prince's version of Eternity on it. I liked his version of that song so much more than Chaka's. I never heard Sheena's version.

Oops. My mistake. Who wrote it? It's a good one.

I recall not liking Sheena's version... is it the same song, or just the same title? I liked Chaka's.
