It reminds me of the 2-Tone era Ska. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Trent Reznor wouldn't know industrial if it peed him in his face. (Here I go again, sorry folks, couldn't resist. Perhaps Neversin can fill me in when I get bored )

well, i was just thinking....after his creative hightime in the eighties (in my opinion), Prince sometimes touched on styles of music that made me think.....wtf? or hey, he's EVEN attempting to perform this kind of music!
Some examples: - Doing the allman brothers 'southern boogie' on "The Same December" from Chaos and disorder - Redoing the opening tune of the sitcom "The Nanny" with Courting Time (Emancipation) - Reggae on Blue Light (Symbol album) - South african music on Willing and Able (Diamonds and Pearls) - House / Dance on cuts like Loose, New World and The electric garden - Cuban music on the second halve of Damned if i do (Emancipation) And, one other thing: - Purple Rain is in its essence a country-ballad (like the many country-covers show, and like John Hiatt once showed in a documentory). I definitely DONT want to see him try any: - Industrial Rock - Gothic Metal - Nu-metal Some more Big band would be nice (listen to Right the Wrong from Chaos and Disorder, People sometimes mistake this song with country, probably because of the red-neck talk at the beginning, but musically its owing all to Duke Ellington) Some more stripped down singer-songwriter / folk (like a few tracks on his debut record, the song Sometimes it Snows in April, and some of the cuts on The Truth) But most of all i would like to hear him experimenting again with psychedelic pop and world music. He has done that before in the past (ATWIAD, Parade), but around there are so many styles, rhythems and instruments that can enrich his music. Some suggestions: - Prince doing a cd with the Afro Cuban All Stars, putting out some melancholic-warm son-jams. - Prince making a cd with Yousou n'dour at his most traditional: talking drums, syncopating guitar, NO synths please - Prince teaming up with some powerpop musician as Jason Faulkner, Ken Stringfellow, or, especially, Matthew Sweet, to deliver some rich, psychedelic, sixties-sounding kind of record! (co-producer Van Dyke Parks, guest appearance: Brian Wilson) A very personal choice: - Prince working with Lyle Lovett on a cd mixing leftfield country (please, NO nashville crap), folktunes, Big band, gospel and bluegrass (Inviting the Irish traditionals The Chieftains one some tracks, an original gospel choir on some songs, and Van Morrison doing co-lead vocals on at least one track) I dont know how this would turn out, but just daydreaming a bit.....

He should do more songs like track 4 on rave un2 the joy fantastic. That's the best he has sounded in a long time.

I'd like to see Prince travel to India and get inspiration from classical musical styles there and put out an Indian Classical record. I would like to see Prince fuse this music with some serious funk and house music
